Chapter 16: The Sea

Ronald gazed out into the vast ocean, taking in the stillness of the sea. He couldn't help but be transported back to a time when he was a young boy, playing along the sea walls of Manila Bay. In those days, the bay was a different place. It was sparkling clean, with few vehicles or signs of pollution. Ronald would skip from rock to rock, reveling in the freedom of the open water.

As he stood there, he remembered a special moment with his father. They had taken a break from swimming and were resting on the rocks. It was then that his father had given him a jade pendant, embedded in a golden frame. The pendant had been a symbol of his father's love and pride in him, and Ronald had treasured it ever since.

Despite all the years that had passed, the memory of that day was still fresh in Ronald's mind. He had grown into a formidable man, known as "The Boss" to his associates. But in that moment, he was just a boy, filled with love and gratitude for his father. As he gazed out at the sea, he felt a deep connection to his past and the memories that he held so dear.

As Ronald was lost in thought, he heard footsteps approaching him. He turned around to see Glyn, the marine biologist who had greeted him earlier. She came up to him and said, "Mr. Ronald, I just wanted to thank you for everything you've done for my family. I've been wanting to see you for a long time now."

Ronald smiled and replied, "You don't have to thank me, Glyn. Your family is like my own. I just did what anyone would do in my shoes."

Glyn chuckled and said, "You've always been humble, sir. But I know the truth. You've changed our lives, and I will always be grateful."

Ronald looked out at the sea and sighed, "I remember when this bay was sparkling clean. My father and I used to swim here when I was a child. I still have this jade pendant he gave me, embedded in a gold frame. It reminds me of the good times."

Glyn smiled and said, "It's amazing how a small gesture can mean so much. I hope you keep those memories close to your heart."

Ronald nodded and the two of them stood in silence, watching the calm sea and admiring the beauty of nature. They were both lost in thought, and in that moment, everything else seemed to fade away.

He used to wear that jade pendant every day, it is his lucky charm. His dad told him that it will bring him good fortune and protect him from harm.

Suddenly, the calm sea changed and the waves grew bigger, reminding Ronald of the storms he faced in life. He has faced countless battles and faced numerous challenges, but he always emerged victorious. He couldn't help but to reflect on his past, how he became the person he is today.
