Chapter 68: The fight.

CLAP .. CLAP .. CLAP .. CLAP ...

The sound of sudden loud claps disrupted the peaceful and romantic morning. Li Wei frowned and raised his head to see who was shameless enough to intrude at this moment. Looking ahead, he found the least expected visitor walking towards them.

"Gooood Morning.. Love birds." An annoying voice reached Ling Yue's ears and her haze cleared out. Li Wei got up and helped Ling Yue stand up. He couldn't help but curse Jade Nicholas again and again in his heart.

Ling Yue stood up and looked at Jade. Sporting a brown leather jacket and black jeans, Jade leaned against a tree as he looked at Ling Yue and Li Wei.

"Yo. Miss Ling. I have been searching for you a lot these days. But you keep escaping. Why?" Jade questioned innocently looking at the stunning beauty standing in front of him. Ling Yue was surely the finest work of god. Ling Yue didn't bother to answer him at all. She looked at those yellow eyes which were an replica of the Old Master Nicholas.

Li Wei worriedly looked at Ling Yue to see if she was fine or not and she was fine. In fact, she was looking straight into Jade's eyes. It was not like Ling Yue was fearless. She had her own fears. But when standing in front of the enemy, she knew she couldn't fall weak.

"Mr Nicholas. I didn't expect to meet you here. What a surprise." Li Wei said, sarcasm dripping in his voice. Jade chuckled hearing this. This man had fooled him before. He will settle those scores here.

"Not a pleasant one I suppose?" Jade questioned and Li Wei gave him a boring stare. But Ling Yue got alerted. Jade was not alone here. Someone else was also here.

"Well. I can see why you tried to fool me the last time Mr Li. Who would want to leave someone as iconic as Miss Ling." Li Wei slightly pulled Ling Yue behind him after noticing Jade openly checking her out.

"Why do you want to meet me Mr Nicholas?" Ling Yue questioned him, her voice steady but she held the hem of Li Wei's shirt in a tight grip behind him which Li Wei of course felt.

"I heard you were that intelligent brain who rejected AtStar's proposal?" Jade replied to which Ling Yue chuckled.

"Mr Nicholas. Do you seriously expect me to accept that shitty presentation. Sorry if this offends you, but I must say, your employees suck at their work." Jade's face turned a few shades darker as he heard Ling Yue's words. Everyone feared to even look him into the eyes, but these two people in front of him had no fear of him at all. He was about to open his mouth but Ling Yue bet to him.

"And I can also see why they are like that. I can't really blame them when their boss is still weeny-whiny kid who cries just because he didn't get the topper of the class position." Ling Yue said and Li Wei was somewhat surprised looking at her. He thought she couldn't utter a single word or might even faint looking at Jade but she again surprised him.

"Hahaha.. Excellent. You sure are a feisty woman Miss Ling. I like conquering gems like you. How about you come to me?" Jade proposed to which Ling Yue looked at him as if he as lost his brain. Go to him? In his dreams.

"Thanks for the compliment Mr Nicholas, but I am not fond of sitting with mud and pebbles when I can sit with pearls and diamonds." this retort from Ling Yue made Jade clench his fists. Truly speaking, Jade had an aura of Satan right now but Ling Yue didn't even flinch. Even when his stare was making her uncomfortable, she didn't let him notice it. This is what Jade didn't like. He liked when his prey feared and begged him. Not when it bared it's fangs and claws to him.

"Hah.. I just gave you a golden opportunity to come to me Ling Yue.. You.. You missed it. But no worried dear.. I have lot of businesses. And without a doubt you are going to give me lot of profits in prostitution business."

"JADE NICHOLAS.." Li Wei shouted hearing his outrageous and disrespectful words.

"Shhh... Romeo. I didn't speak to you. I am speaking business to the Juliet behind you." Jade replied sarcastically, his eyes still fixed on Ling Yue.

"I see. Unlike you, I don't run those shady business. But even if I did, I can tell that you would only bring loss to me. Like who would like a lizard which yellow eyes and silver hair? What a worst colour combination. Tch." Ling Yue commented further fanning the flames in Jade. But all the while her senses were on high alert. She could feel the moments in the forest, around them. They were surrounded.

"Bring that bitch to me." Jade commanded and just in a second seven people dressed in black outfits and masks on their faces jumped down the trees and surrounded Li Wei and Ling Yue. Ling Yue didn't waste time. She was already prepared and she guessed their positions right. Even before the men stabilized their footing and were ready to attack, Ling Yue made her attack.

Li Wei too grasped the situation quickly and handled the men in the back. The men Jade brought were are skilled martial artists but Li Wei was not any less. He had been trained in martial arts since young.

Ling Yue first jumped out of the circle and twisted a man's neck in the process making him unconscious and took his dagger. Her attacks were merciless. She stabbed their vital points, making sure her attack was deep and lethal but not life-threatening.

On the other side, Li Wei only needed his hands to render them immobile. His cuts were perfect, agile and quick.

By the time Li Wei was done with four of Jade's men, he saw three other weakly lying on the ground in their blood but Ling Yue was now still the new guy who jumped in - Marcus. He was really giving a tough fight to her, but his moves were only defence and mainly focused on capturing her. Seems like Jade really wanted Ling Yue in his hands.

"Ling Yue JUMP." Li Wei shouted and though Ling Yue didn't know what he wanted to do, she believed him and jumped over Marcus making him turn around to catch her. That was the mistake and Li Wei got the chance to hit on Marcus's legs making him fall on face and Ling Yue didn't even think twice before brutally stabbing his palm into the ground.

Marcus howled in pain but Li Wei immediately grabbed Ling Yue's hand and ran into the forest as he saw few other people coming towards them. How did Jade track them here? Ling Yue turned back to look at Jade and found him smirking leaning against the tree. She furrowed her brows and became vigilant of their surroundings again as they ran inside. The outside route was probably covered by his men already and going there would be no less than a death trap.

"Wei stop.. Stop.. Someone is here. Wait.." Li Wei stopped and Ling Yue closed her eyes and strained her ears. She started tuning out those footsteps coming behind, those birds chirping, the rustling of leaves and everything else. She tuned out everything. Just there, just there she could feel a menacing hungry gaze on them. Something sinister.

"Ling Yue we need to go. Come on." Li Wei dragged her when she was just about to find, distracting her concentration. Ling Yue was still stopping Li Wei from going ahead but Li Wei was still focused on the footsteps chasing them.

"Li Wei. WATCH OUT."

ROARRR...

Ahhh....

ROARRRRR.....

Li Wei's eyes were as wide as saucers as he looked at the black panther jumped out of now where. Now Li Wei understood why Ling Yue warned him to stop. He looked at Ling Yue who was standing in front of him facing the predator. She had a stone in her hand as she dangerously gazed at the beast. The panther had previously aimed at Li Wei heart and neck which almost sucked out Ling Yue soul out. She now looked blood thirsty.

Li Wei was about to pull Ling Yue back when the panther leaped for Li Wei. This was Li Wei's first time standing in front of a big cat but that was not the case for Ling Yue. She had encountered many in these mountains. While Li Wei was preparing himself to slide back, Ling Yue vaulted towards the black beast and launched her attack. The sharp stone in her hand hit it's stomach with a lighting force that the animal slid a 15 feet back and fell onto ground with a loud thud. Ling Yue didn't show mercy on this animal too. She remembered it aimed for Li Wei's heart. The same heart which sang her lullaby every night.

She made a leap again and this time her weapon hit it's neck, making blood gush out of it's mouth and it's limbs turn useless. Ling Yue immediately threw the stone into the bushes nearby, making sure it made enough sound and grabbed Li Wei before running into a different path which was filled with thorns, bushes and mud.

Li Wei couldn't understand why she was choosing a way which was leading them closer to the enemies he followed her, knowing that she knew these forests better than him. As they moved further, Li Wei could hear the sound of footsteps all around them but Ling Yue abruptly stopped near a huge tree with a burrow and entered it. She pulled Li Wei's hand too and he bent down to see inside.

The burrow had a small door on the ground and Ling Yue opened it without making any sounds and jumped in first and Li Wei followed her behind and closed the door. The inside of the secret passage was dark and Li Wei turned on his phone torch. Though underground, the walls and flooring of the passage were of black marble.

Ling Yue didn't speak and held his hand as she moved forward. Li Wei didn't know how she was able to navigate as the passage was not a one way path but a huge maze. Ling Yue knew which way leads to which and she strategically choose her location.

They walked and crawled for next fifteen minutes before they saw few steps and Ling Yue climbed them while panting and opened another door. The morning sunlight lighted up the passage and Ling Yue and Li Wei came out.

Stepping out and closing the door, Li Wei was dumb struck looking at the structure standing in front of him. There stood the humble abode of Jiang Yuan and Min Hua. Though remodelled a little, it was the same house Jiang Yuan lived in. Ling Yue opened the door and pushed Li Wei in before locking it from inside and collapsing on floor.

"Yueyue" Li Wei rushed to her and turned her to lay on her back and only then did he notice four deep gashes on her stomach. Ling Yue had covered it well for the past thirty minutes and didn't even let out a small grunt for him to notice inside that dark passage.

"YUEYUE.."
