Mother Li's outburst

Chapter 85: Mother Li's outburst.

Father Li hadn't expected something like this. What was his wife so worried about? 

"What's wrong honey? You are the most important one to me." Father Li calmly explained. But Mother Li didn't take this answer. She already knew this.

"I know. But what if I abandon something important to you. Like.. Like.. What if I had abandoned Li Wei back then and left you both?" Mother Li asked cautiously, but more than caution, there was a tinge of sadness in her eyes which father Li didn't notice.

"Hahaha.. What are you even thinking these days? Nothing happened like that right? And though we didn't plan Li Wei back then, we were already in love and ready to take responsibility. Stop worrying about these silly things. Might be we should make a trip again." Father Li brushed of the topic and hugged his wife to sleep.

Mother Li didn't pursue the topic anymore and closed her eyes to sleep. 

The next day passed quickly. Mother Li had completed most of her shooting work and was resting at home. And there was father Li constantly pestering her to go on a new honeymoon with him.

"Where is Yue'er?" Mother Li asked Li Mei when she saw her return alone. Li Mei had been spending a lot of time in Z Heights for the past few days and both the girls would usually return together.

"Big sis is busy. She said she might be late and sent me back." Li Mei said and started looking at the dishes on the dining table.

"Why is she working so hard? Her health isn't too good. And she has just recovered from her injury." Mother Li started to voice out her concerns and Li Wei too entered the hall. He too had just returned home after a busy day.

Soon the family gathered around for dinner. Ling Yue had yet not returned and messaged mother Li to not wait for her.

"Wei. Did you propose Ling Yue properly?" Mother Li asked out of nowhere during the dinner. Father Li and Li Mei curiously looked at mother Li. 

Li Mei even felt that her father's soul seemed to be swapped into her mother's. Father Li was the one who usually pesters Li Wei with the marriage and honeymoon talks.

Li Wei too didn't understand why his mother suddenly brought up this topic. He put away his tab and thought of how to respond to this.

He had indeed confessed his feeling to Ling Yue, but he hadn't asked her to be his girlfriend. Moreover, even Ling Yue hadn't responded to his previous confession. 

And he wasn't blaming her either. Everything was already hard on her, and he didn't want to add any emotional stress and responsibilities on her.

"Why are you asking this so suddenly? I did say that I love her, but I haven't asked her out yet." Li Wei responded after thinking for some time.

It was weird to hear his mother ask this question. it would be usually his father doing this business day and night.

"Then.. when are you going to ask her out properly? Or how about you both get married?" 

Cough.. cough.. cough..

Father Li choked on his food. His wife was indeed weird these days. Marriage? He was damn sure Ling Yue would reject his son if he goes and speaks about marriage right now.

"Huh? Marriage? What's the hurry? Let Ling Yue get cured and be ready for all this first." Li Wei tried to explain but for some reason Mother Li's face darkened as she heard his explanation.

"What do you mean by that? Are you saying that you will take her responsibility only after she is cured and healthy. Are you afraid that she will be a burden if she doesn't get cured?" 

Everyone seated there were perplexed hearing Mother Li's words. They all knew Li Wei well. His words didn't imply that. But why was Mother Li targeting Li Wei all of a sudden?

"Mom. What happened?" Li Wei asked. He didn't expect such a response from mother Li at all. 

Mother Li too seemed to have realised what she had done and pursed her lips. It wasn't that she didn't believe Li Wei. She was just too much worried about Ling Yue these days.

"I am sorry. I didn't mean that." Mother Li apologised. Li Wei pulled his chair closer to mother Li and took her hands into his.

"Don't worry Mom. Ling Yue will be fine. She is stronger than you think. She will get through this." Li Wei said gently. He thought his mother was anxious because of Ling Yue's health condition and also the lack of treatment for her.
