Chapter Nine

I woke up with my phone blowing up. What the hell is happening? When I looked at my phone it’s just facebook friend requests from people I know and from people I didn’t know that exist. I forgot to put my phone on silent!

I looked at the clock and it is still early to prepare. My school is just 10mins from my home now, I don’t need to worry. I got bored so I just accept some of my friends who have a mutual friend. I don’t like accepting people without mutual friends.

When the clock finally hits 6 o’clock, I finally decided to prepare. It feels so good that I am alone, but sometimes of course I miss it when someone prepares breakfast for me but at the moment I really enjoy this independence. I like doing things my own. When I know someone will going to do it for me I seriously get lazy to do it on my own.

Finally done! Exactly 7am I start my car. Ah! This is life. This is what I am always praying for. This is my first day and I like how things are turning. Starting my school year with a positive and productive day, hoping it will last till the last day of this semester.

When I got there I parked my car and went to my room. When I got there everyone was inside the room and there is a teacher. What? I thought my classes start at 7:30? Why my professor is here already?

I knocked on the door twice and open it.

“Yes?” My professor said

“Ahm… Is this life of Rizal?” I asked

“Oh yes. Who are you?”

“I’m Artemis Montefalco. I’m a transferee.” I said as I stepped inside the class

“Well, Miss Artemis, my class is already starting.” She said then I looked at my schedule and it says 7:30

“But my schedule said it starts at 7:30.” I said as I handed her my schedule

“Oh? Is everyone got the same schedule as her?” She asked the class, oh shoot! I forgot about my classmates.

They said yes in unison and some said that they got shook when my professor entered the room when they thought it will be 7:30

“Then change it to 7am. Everyone later go to the registrar and asked them to change it.” She said and I just nod at her

“Choose your seat.” She said and I looked around. No one was sitting in front so I sat there. I like being in front though. So it’s not a big deal for me seating here.

My cousin Liza will be attending class I think tomorrow or Wednesday. She decided that she will enroll today. Yes today! I don’t know why she didn’t go with me when I enrolled.

“Okay let us start to introduce yourself.” That is the time I regret sitting in front. Why did I decide to sit here again? Ugh.

“Let’s start with you Miss Artemis. State your name, age, where you live and what school did you came from.” She said as she stood up and went to the back

I stood up and went in front. Fuck! I’m so nervous!

“Hi, I am Artemis Montefalco. 19 years old. I live in Apalit, Pampanga. I went to La Consolacion University of Malolos Bulacan.” I said and walked to my sit when my professor asked me to remain standing

“You’re from LaCo?” She asked

“Yes ma’am.”

“And you decided to transfer here?” She asked. I know LaCo is much better in this school in a lot of things but I prioritize my mental health as of the moment. I don’t want to leave my house here in Apalit and then rent a dorm in Bulacan. My house is the only comfort zone that stayed.

“Yes ma’am.”

“Why?” She’s working here and asking me to why I transferred here instead of studying there.

“I prioritize my mental health ma’am. Staying there was not healthy for me as of the moment.” I said, I am losing my interest in everything when I studied there. I am not blaming the school but I am blaming myself for letting things got out of control when I can clearly do something.

“Why?” She once again asked. I don’t want to answer it honestly but everyone was looking at me and waiting for me to answer.

“I- it’s a personal reason and I’m sorry if I can’t tell you.” I said and I sat down immediately.

“Okay next!”

When it’s their turn to introduce themselves, I was looking at them but not really listening. I was too occupied with remembering everything and trying to forget about it. I never expected someone will bring it up; I was trying to forget that!

The whole time I was silent and not talking to anyone. Thank God I only have two classes today. Monday is the only day I got morning classes. Tuesday to Thursday it was 1pm onwards. I hate Mondays!

I got a text from Liza she said she is already in front of the school. I went where she is, I’m going to help her enrolling here so tomorrow I have someone to talked to.

I was looking around when I got in front of the school. Where exactly is she? I forgot to wear my contacts today so I can’t really see anything.

“Hey Art!” There she is.

“Let’s go after this let’s go to the mall. I want to buy something.” I don’t even know what to buy! Ugh. Artemis! Another day of wasting money for something I don’t even need.

“Okay. Let’s start so we can finish it all today.” She said and walked somewhere

“Do you even know where you are going?” I asked not moving from where I am standing

“no…” she said and pulled me with her, “Where are we going Art?” She asked smiling

“Here, let’s go.” I said as I pulled her at the admission office where Sir John is.

“He’s handsome ah.” Liza whispered to me. He’s actually close to our age. He’s only 22 and working here as someone who will accept enrollee.

“Hi, she’s enrolling.” I simply said as I sat down at the chair in front of him

He looked at me and smile, “What’s your name?” I forgot to tell you guys this is the school where I graduated from SHS. So I really know where things are and I know some of the professors because they are also my professors when I was in Senior High.

“Art! You’re enrolling?” My former professor in Senior high asked. He just got here and this is the first time he saw me again

“I already finished my classes’ sir. I was actually helping my cousin enroll.” I said as I got his hand and touched it with my forehead. This is what we do as a sign of respect to the elderly.

“That’s good.” He said, I know the struggle of this school. They lacked students. They have goal students for the whole year and when they didn’t get that target I don’t know what will happen but they really need to accommodate 300+ student. They did a lot of renovation for this school and they need to recover from the renovation they did.

After an hour Liza is finally enrolled! We got the same schedule except for Thursday. She doesn’t have a class every Thursday.

“Let’s go!” She said as we enter my car. I’m still thinking what I will buy. I think I need to do my grocery first before anything else.
