"Is this a joke or a prank or something? " William chuckled nervously. And I tighten my grip on the gun.

I pull the trigger, shooting through the couch.  The sound of the bullet penetrating the couch booms out loud in the room.

"Does this look like a joke to you? "  My anger flares up.

William's nervousness was replaced with a quiver of fear in his eyes. "What is going on? Why?"  His confused eyes dart between Brittany and me.

"I want some answers from you. " I tried to say that as calmly as I could. I don't think I  achieved that.

"What answers? I don't think a gun is needed for that.  It's me, Adeline," His voice went soft when he said my name.
