"Shit!" Kaiden stopped midway while running. "My mother."
"What about her?"
"Harris did…"
BOOM!
A second gunshot was fired.
This time, Kaiden could not understand why his view had suddenly started to become blurry and his back was hurting so bad.
In an instant, he was holding Jake in his arms, cuddling him tighter to protect him. In the next second, his limbs started to fail him and tiny dots, black, started to spread across his vision.
Kaiden fell to his knees. Jake's hand was holding lightly his head.
It was a minute later when he saw the uniform men arrive along with the paramedics that he smiled the ultimate smile and wished his fears away, fading into the darkness.
TWENTY FOUR HOURS LATER
Blinding lights stabbed his irises the moment he dared to open up his eyes.
It was a lot of intensity and Kaiden picked up his arm to protect his vision.
"Why… Why is everything so bright?"
