LEON

He gripped his fork, staring at nothing and his steak. His family was sitting around him, all of them so much into their thoughts, that they didn't bother to conversate.

If Leon was asked what was the biggest lesson he learned in his life, he would say- no matter how much glory one gains, no matter how much money one has, no matter how educated one is, it does not mean they were taught humanity. At least that was what his beloved family had proved to him.

"Honey, what's wrong?" Christina Delga, his mother, asked with fake concern. "What are you thinking about? You hardly ever think."

Ronan, his older brother let out a small laugh, quick to cover it up with a cough.

"Ah, nothing much." Leon let a tired smile spread on his face. "I was just planning ways on how I could get the Crown." He said the last line with as much strength he could muster in his voice.

This time, it wasn't just Ronan who burst out laughing, but also his father, Jarek Delga.

"Stop laughing you guys." Christina scolded her family, but the amusement was visible in both her eyes and voice.

"Oh, my little brother. You have always been quite the joker. Thanks for making me laugh. I've had a long day of hard work unlike a certain someone." Ronan said, mockingly wiping out imaginary tears from his eyes.

Leon could only bow his head, letting his unruly hair hide his face which had turned tomato red. Whereas he had pale skin, his family had tan skin from all the outdoor activity. Since he was prone to turning the same colour as his hair, the Delgas wouldn't miss a beat to make fun of it.

The only way he could stay without lashing out at them was to blame himself. He would always think of himself as the disappointment in the family, and how difficult it must be to be so honourable, yet have him to be part of them.

The Delgas were one of the oldest families in the history of Regatrix. They had fought for years, and were the reasons for victory. They were highly feared not only in their homeland, but around the world. If Delgas weren't good fighters, they would be good mechanics who made war machines, or healers who could cure almost anything. They were the Delgas.

And then there was Leon Delga.

He had mastered the art of getting away without letting someone know his last name- the very part of his identity that he was supposed to wear with pride. That was probably his only skill.

As a child, he had been very weak-both physically and mentally. This made the kids in school make fun of him for his lack of skills in sports. He had an incompetent body, and a very bad case of asthma (which was ironic considering his Gift). He could never take all the bullying, so he would start bawling, and that would make the kids tease him more since "boys weren't supposed to cry".

When Leon would return home all bruised and beaten up, he would have to face the disappointment in Christina's grey eyes, which felt like another punch to the face.

After he grew up, he realized maybe, just maybe, he could try something else. Afterall, not all Delgas were fighters.

He tried to make machines, but all he succeeded in was making a huge fire that almost took his life. He would have died, if not for Ronan quickly zapping in and carrying him to safety. Leon never heard the end of it.

He tried the medical fields, but ended up killing a hamster. He still had nightmares about it, and stayed away from animals ever since.

After all his failures, he just gave up trying, and decided to be the one whose company people wouldn't mind, and not care about as he faded into the background.

But now... maybe he could prove that he was a true Delga. No matter what it took, he would have to get his hands on the Crown.
