Close call

Bruno used the gravitational pull to further enhance the strength of his blow, while the bludnik swinged his hammer in a clockwise direction all the way from behind his back to counter his opponent blow.

As expected, the dagger linear cut sliced right through the bludnik hammer and reached his neck, detaching the head from the body and making it roll on the muddy floor.

Just as he was about to crouch to collect the mana stone from the monster's already chopped head. He felt a dense killing intent from the dead body, he quickly placed his dagger vertically in front of his chest and neck and held it with both hands, as if to parry an attack.

In less than a second, he felt a strong blow hit his blade and producing a loud screeching sound.

When he thought it had already ended, a small scratch appeared on the left side of his neck.

While blood slowly started to flow out of his wound, the monster's body was still on the ground and Bruno was having trouble understanding where the attacker was coming from, suddenly, an answer came to his mind and he activated his skill, Eyes of fate, the shocking view displayed in front of his eyes was terrifying: a dark figure was floating in the air, it looked like a mix between a ghost and a grim reaper.

It didnt have any legs and the lower part of its body was made just like a ghost, but he still had his arms and hands, and they were both equipped with three long sharp claws each.

Without wasting any time, Bruno took the initiative and decid to attack before the monster could attemp another sneaky hit, his dagger passed right trough the monster head, cutting it neatly, this time however, he didn't hear, nor the sound of the head rolling on the ground, nor the one of the body falling to his feets.

When he watched behind his back to understand what was happening, the specter was still floating there, as if nothing happened.

Before Bruno could even attempt another attack, the monster was gone, he turned his head left and right, not seeing

The specter anywhere.

Then, he hurriedly raised his chin, and saw the monster standing five meters(16 feets) above the ground.

It let himself go and was rapidly approaching the ground keeping his claws in front of his face ready to pierce Bruno's heart.

Their attacks were about to collide when bruno shifted his body to the left avoiding the fatal brow by a few centimeters, and then, he dashed towards the enemy's chest sinking his arm in it, and then pulling it out with an orange-red crystal between his fingers, it was the mana stone.

Without its core. the monster slowly started to dissipate, not leaving any ashes behind.

Prior to their last confrontation, while the devil was still in the air, Bruno, had already seen through its weakness, the only physical part of its whole body was his core, and the rest was just a thick concentration of mana.

So just destroying the core would've beed enough, but he couldn't let such a valuable thing go to waste, so he just grabbed it and ripped it apart from the rest of the body.

He fell to the ground hitting his butt, he was out of breath and it took him ten minutes just to stand up.

He immediately started dismembering the body's, he only had fifty minutes before the gate would close.

Without a boss, the gate can't maintain its connection and closes after about an hour.

….20 minutes later

"I've been dismantling bodies for forty years, maybe i should change my job to a cleaner, yeah maybe i should,

wait, what the hell am i thinking about,maybe the mana inside the gate is getting to my brain and compromising it,"

"Hello my name is Bruno, today i'm dismembering the bodies of dead hauks for an uncountable amount of time."

"im on the verge of forgetting my name,"

"wait, I'm done?!!!!"

"Yeeaaaah, i couldn't do it anymore,

this was by far the most exhausting thing i've ever done"

"My body statistics better gain at least five levels, or else, god will know how messing with me feels"

….Bruno mind was going astray after butchering bodies for half an hour, but, he was finally done, luckly it ended before he could completely lose his mind, or else, well, let's not think about that.

He came out of the gate bathed in hauk's blood, then, before going home, he passed from the military outpost and declared the gate as closed, they didn't believe him, but they remained shocked when it actually disappeared.

After going back to the hotel room, he took a shower, and, all worn out, he drowned into the fluffly bed sheets.

He woke up during the night, it was about 1:00, he stood up with the intent of going to the bathroom, but, before he could even walk five steps, the system window appeared before him yet another time.

He expected it, unfortunatly however, he thought he could advance by two ranks again if not more, but the window only talked about his fith awakening, without any mentions about higher ranks.

He hunted hundreds and hundreds of monsters this time, and even killed the boss, but it seemed like it had way less effect since the gate rank was lower than his.

He still obviously accepted it, and after five minutes of glowing, his body came back to normal.

This time the raise in stats wasn't the only thing he achieved, he finally unlocked a new skill:
