Chapter 11 - Accomplice

She remembered the old man, maybe it was his grandfather, and maybe he was the one being used to help his grandson to find his parents, "Do you know an old man with a long white hair, who is in 70's?, he is strolling here earlier," Charlotte asked.

"I don't know what are you talking about," Jack replied. "Of course you won't admit it, maybe he is your accomplice, what he said is weird,"

Charlotte said. "I don't know what you're saying, I don't know any old man," Jack replied.

"This is insane!" Confused says Charlotte.

And then she thought again, she recollected what the old man said.

"Why does the old man know that I will see you here? And why are the two of us written initials on the handkerchief?" Astonished Charlotte said, as she looked at him deeply.

"What handkerchief?"

"The handkerchief," said Charlotte and she remembered that she put it back in her bag, and fortunately she took it with her. She took it out of her bag.

"An old man gave me this handkerchief earlier, and he said it was mine, and look, it engraved our initials on it, look at this," Charlotte said and showed Jack the handkerchief.

"And the old man also said that I will meet Jack Armstrong now in this place, and it so happened that I met you, but I can't say that you are Jack the singer because it's impossible that you are him, why are you doing this to me, huh?" said Charlotte with astonishment on her face,

Jack looked at the handkerchief but he remembered nothing.

"I don't know what you're saying, I don't remember that handkerchief," Jack said.

"I'm more confused about what's going on, who the old man was that I met earlier? And why you suddenly showed me, who are you, and who is that old man? I think you are related," Charlotte said.

"I do not know him, I don't know what you're saying," Jack scoffed.

Charlotte feels scared, she thinks that the old man might be Jack's accomplice, and they only use Jack Armstrong, because he has a resemblance to him, she is afraid that what Candy is saying might be true that he might kidnap her and make her slavery in a distant place.

"Stay away from me, this is bullshit, you're not Jack Armstrong, stop using his name!"

Charlotte said and she backed away from Jack.

"Please, don't think like that, I need your help!"

"How can I help you, a madness is happening, this is weird and what the old man said was impossible!" Charlotte said and she immediately turned her back on Jack and she ran away.

And when she came home she immediately closed the door.

She saw Jayla coming out of the toilet, and she noticed that she look flustered.

"Sis, why do you look like that, is someone chasing you?" Said Jayla.

"Where's Kevin?" Charlotte asked suddenly.

"He just left, did you take the missing person to the police earlier?"

"Police?" Confused says Charlotte.

"Didn't you say he's missing so you want to help him, where is he?" Jayla asked,

Charlotte couldn't keep quiet right away, she thought why didn't she take Jack to the police, she immediately suspected him.

"I left him alone in the street, I suddenly felt scared," Charlotte replied.

"Why are you scared?"

And there Charlotte thought of telling Jayla what had happened.

"Earlier when I came home from work, an old man approached me, and he said that my handkerchief had fallen, but it wasn't my handkerchief after all," she narrated.

"So what happened?" Jayla asked.

Charlotte invited her to her room, Charlotte was alone in her room, and Jayla and Karla were with their mother in the other room.

"Look at this handkerchief with my initials, even if it's not mine," Charlotte said.

Jayla looked up and saw the initial CNB but there's an A on it, so its CNBA.

"But there's an A?" Jayla said.

Charlotte didn't replied immediately. "Maybe it's a coincidence that you have the same initials, and it's not really you, why did you take it?" said Jayla.

"I don't want to accept it, but the old man told me something that surprised me,"

"What's that,"

"He said, my husband gave me that handkerchief,"

Jayla laughed at what Charlotte said.

"That old man is losing his mind, you don't have a husband, maybe he just mistaken you, you should ignore him and maybe he had alzeimers and he is just making fun at you," Jayla chuckled.

"That's what I also thought, but he still followed me and he told me that today at midnight, I will meet Jack Armstrong on that street, on 33rd street," Charlotte said.

"So that's why you went there?" Jayla asked her.

"I didn't plan to go there just because I believe, and besides I was afraid that I might just be kidnapped and get involved in woman trafficking," Charlotte said.

"So why you gone there?"

"The reason why I went there is just to find you even if I didn't like to, and it happened that I met someone named Jack Armstrong, but he said its not his real name, he just saw that name in the newspaper that he found, so he used it," Charlotte explained.

"That thin man, he wasn't look like Jack Armstrong," Jayla said as she scoffed.

"But when I looked into his eyes, they looked alike,"

Said Charlotte.

Jayla shook her head.

"My sister, you're just hallucinating, he doesn't look like that, that guy is just confusing you, maybe he is with that old man that you are talking about,"

Said Jayla. "So the old man, does he have a connection there?" Charlotte thought.

"Probably, they might conspire, many young people are missing today.

And they make modus so that they can easily get people's hearts, and maybe they have been stalking us for a long time," said Jayla.

"So why do you still go out at night?" Said Charlotte.

"I was with Kevin, we just had coffee, and see, I went home right away," Jayla said.

"Well, it's good to be careful, but how the one who is using name of Jack, what is his real purpose, it's hard to think badly, he's asking for help," said Charlotte.
