I was not sure why I agreed to meet with Pete. We were never really that close. Back in school, he tended to bully me and make fun of me for any small thing, from the way I dressed to the color of my eyes. It didn’t matter what it was; Pete found a way to be mean about it.
But, everyone changed. He had been off to college for two years now, and he seemed to have grown up. I believed in giving people second chances.
While Charlie finished up his shift, I decided, I’d catch up with Pete and see how his sophomore year had been. A few minutes, and I’d get a feel as to how much he had changed.
We were supposed to meet at the small drugstore that still had an old-fashioned soda fountain section that tourists really enjoyed. Right before I stepped out of the house, Pete called and suggested instead that I meet him at the park.
