"Bastard!" the woman's voice erupted from the corpse demon's mouth, seemingly with a hatred that carved deep into the bones.
"Why are you so angry, being human isn't that great, being a monster is more comfortable. Look at you now, how perfect you are, much better than that frail body," the White Bone Demon said with a laugh.
"I don't want to be an ugly demon," she retorted.
"Ugly, what does it matter? Do you see the thing on this wall? This is the most marvelous technique in the world. Once you master it, you can transform into anything you wish," the White Bone Demon explained, pointing at the dense script on the wall.
The corpse demon remained silent, but the White Bone Demon was smug, slowly caressing the corpse demon's pristine bones and saying, "Living alone in this Cave Mansion is too lonely. I wanted to find someone to accompany me. Unfortunately, the conditions for a corpse demon to appear are too harsh. Over the years, I haven't found anyone. So I thought, if there isn't one, why not create one myself?"
"It's a pity, even though I've tried many methods, I haven't been able to create a corpse demon like myself. Most are just wild beasts that have lost their reason, how could they match me? But when I saw you, I felt you were the one I had been desperately searching for. Heaven ordained our meeting, and thus it was predestined that you would become my wife," the White Bone Demon said softly, as its bone claw gently traced over the corpse demon's bones.
"Just as I expected, you quickly regained your senses, becoming a demon comparable to me in this world. If it weren't for that Young Daoist priest interfering, once you had killed your own brother, you would have completely transformed into a corpse demon. But no matter, I have other ways."
The corpse demon suddenly let out a piercing scream. It turned out that, amidst its words, the White Bone Demon had moved its bone claw to her spine and forcefully inscribed the words "White Bone Lady."
In an instant, a dense resentment exploded. The flesh on the corpse demon that had not yet completely faded disappeared without a trace at that moment, leaving only the pristine, white skeleton that shone brightly.
"This is it, absolutely perfect. I knew you could do it," the White Bone Demon said, sounding somewhat weak. It seemed that inscribing those words hadn't been easy.
"You seem a bit tired?" the White Bone Lady asked with concern.
"It's nothing, just a bit of mana depleted. The battle with that Young Daoist priest exhausted too much of my mana, almost couldn't inscribe these words," the White Bone Demon gasped.
Then he held the White Bone Lady in his arms, murmuring to himself, "From now on, I will no longer be alone."
"Yes, from now on, we will be one," the White Bone Lady said.
"United as one, the lady speaks truly well," the White Bone Demon praised, feeling increasingly certain of his own discernment. Where else could he find such a wife?
The White Bone Lady gently caressed the somewhat weak White Bone Demon, and as she embraced his head in her hands, she suddenly pressed it against her face, and a great sucking force emerged from her mouth.
"You!" the White Bone Demon tried to struggle but found that the White Bone Lady was holding him tightly, unwilling to let go even as her body began to fall apart from the struggle.
Countless bits of origin power hidden in the bones were slowly sucked into the body of the White Bone Lady, repairing her damaged body, while the weakened White Bone Demon could no longer resist this force.
Countless forces of origin power were drawn into the White Bone Lady, and the demon grew increasingly weak, the flames in his eyes also beginning to dim.
This was a special ability only monsters like Corpse demons possessed, where they could devour each other's Origin Power, thereby significantly increasing their own power. This was also the reason why it was rare to find more than one Corpse demon in the same place.
As the Origin Power continued to be lost, the aura of the White Bone Demon weakened more and more until finally, after the Origin Power was completely drained, the White Bone Lady mercilessly threw it at her feet.
By then, she had undergone a complete transformation. Perhaps her combat experience was lacking, but her mana was even stronger than the previous White Bone Demon.
"Why, why did you do this?" the White Bone Demon asked weakly.
"It was you, you bastard, who killed my parents and turned me into this neither human nor ghost creature, and now you ask me why?" the White Bone Lady said angrily, her words filled with deep-seated hatred.
"We're the same kind of people, they're just short-lived ants."
"In my eyes, these ants are much more precious than you," said the White Bone Lady as she walked over and stepped on him, a crisp crack sounding as his bones were crushed, marking the definitive death of the White Bone Demon King who once dominated this mountain forest.
The White Bone Lady looked at the eyes of the White Bone Demon King, whose Soul Fire had completely extinguished, and suddenly burst into hysterical laughter. The eerie, frightening laughter echoed continuously in the Cave Mansion.
She stared fixedly at the words on the wall, trying to memorize them all, when suddenly, a bat hurriedly flew in from the outside and approached the White Bone Lady, mistaking her for the deceased White Bone King because of the devoured Origin Power.
Soon, an image appeared in the White Bone Lady's mind: a young Daoist priest, led by the Earth God, was heading this way. Knowing her own combat strengths after having seen Lin Fang's, she knew she was no match for him.
In the memory of the White Bone Demon King, there was a hidden backdoor in this Cave Mansion. Without hesitation, the White Bone Lady quickly memorized the spell and hurriedly escaped through the backdoor.
By the time Lin Fang breached the Cave Mansion, all he found was the thoroughly deceased White Bone Demon King.
"Is this guy dead?" Lin Fang approached and scrutinized the White Bone Demon King, only to find him thoroughly dead. He was very puzzled, however, as he distinctly remembered that although this guy was weakening, he was not supposed to be dead.
"He was drained of his Origin Power," the Earth God said solemnly. Having been neighbors with this White Bone Demon King for years, he knew some secrets; after all, who guards against someone hidden underground?
The Earth God told Lin Fang everything he knew about the special ability of Corpse demons, and Lin Fang suddenly realized. Without a doubt, this guy died from having his Origin Power drained by that woman who transformed into a Corpse demon.
Does this count as a bad end for a loyal fool? Lin Fang pondered for a moment but couldn't come to a conclusion.
Suddenly, he noticed the text carved on the surrounding walls and was startled.
"This Cave Mansion used to be a hiding place for an Immortal who escaped from the heavens, and later was occupied by the White Bone Demon King. I didn't dare come in to investigate, but perhaps these writings are what that Immortal left behind," the Earth God speculated.
