Cousin

Marcus was sitting on his couch holding a glass of wine and staring at the fire place. The cracking of the woods, a melodious sound to his ears and the burning flames a beautiful sight to behold.

He brought his hand up and took a sip of the blood then leaned back into the couch. Closing his eyes, he saw her face and heard her beautiful laughter in the background.

'So far...' He thought. Opening his eyes, he stood up and left his mansion. He was heading to Trey's house. The man who was calm and composed moments ago was now feeling agitated. He drove so fast his car literally looked like a ball of light from the outside. And the scenery like a blur.

He was gripping the steering wheel so hard that his knuckles turned white. His blue eyes now turned so red looking like droplets of blood had been poured in them. The veins on his hands now bulging like the were about to pop out from his skin. Minutes passed and he now stopped his car in front of Trey's mansion.

He made his way to the backyard and looked up at the sky.

Trey was asleep but suddenly woke up when his vampiric senses alerted him that somebody was here. He used his heightened sense of smell to know who it was then let out a sigh.

'What does he want at this time?' He asked himself. He carefully lifted Julie's hand that was lying on his chest and stood up ever so slowly not to wake her up. Putting on his robe to cover his nakedness, he placed a kiss on her forehead and left the room.

Climbing down the stairs he tried to reach Marcus by telepathy but the link was closed. Making his way to the backyard, he stared at Marcus's back.

"Are you just going to stare at me rooted there like you saw a ghost?" Marcus asked in a mocking tone when he sensed Trey's presence.

"What are you doing here?"

"Can't I come and visit my cousin?"

"That's not what I meant Marc."

"Then what?" Marcus asked.

"You know what time it is right?" Trey asked with a puzzled look on his face

"Only eleven p.m." Marcus said turning around to fully face Trey with a smirk on his gorgeous face. "It's still early for us vampires."

"What's wrong with you?" Trey asked approaching his cousin.

"Like what?" Marcus asked back raising his eyebrows. But then Trey shot him a glare saying 'Don't play that game with me.'

Letting out a sigh, Marcus turned on his side and looked at the stars. Trey came to stand next to him and looked at the stars too.

"Roxy?" He asked looking at Marcus who nodded his head then he turned to look at the stars again. Then they stayed together silently for a while.

"We need to leave for Ascaria.'' Marcus said breaking the silence.

"Wait what?!" Trey asked surprised. "But I can't possibly leave Julie."

"But we need to leave."

"So she will be coming with us." And that's when Marcus finally looked at Trey.

"It's dangerous for her there."

"Here too is dangerous for her." Trey said and Marcus let out a sigh feeling frustrated.

"I can't possibly leave her here. They can harm her. It's either she is coming with us or I stay here with her."

"Then ...You need to tell her... What we are."

"Give me more time... I am not ready and she is not too."

"But we don't have time... I made a mistake... and now my baby is gone." Marcus said his eyes glistening with tears.

"Listen..." Marcus said fighting the lump in his throat. "I need to see her, hug her, tell her that I am sorry. I regret everything and never should have done what I did but I guess it's too late to apologize. But I need to tell her that I love her. She's my everything." He said a tear rolling down his cheek.

"I need her Trey. I. Need. Her"

Trey finally gave in to his cousin's demand and answered him. "Tomorrow. We are leaving for Ascaria. He said and hugged Marcus tightly.

"Thank you." Marcus said hugging him back.

"No need to. After everything you've done for me, I owe you that. Give me til tomorrow morning and we are leaving." Trey said and Marcus nodded his head.

Then Trey punched him in the stomach using his Vampiric powers, sending Marcus five meters away from him.

"The heck is wrong with you?"

"This is for disturbing my sleep." Trey said turning around then leaving. "Goodnight cousin." Then he leaped away leaving Marcus smiling in disbelief.
