Chapter 172: The Temple of Doom

While we fought to exterminate the tide of demonic spirit beasts that rushed toward us, Fu Xi and Ba Yun had to deal with problems of their own.

They were trying their best to approach the eastern temple without drawing attention from any of the demonic spirit beasts that currently dwelled there. We had no idea what had happened back then, but apparently the monk who was in charge of the temple had ben attacked and forcibly possessed by a demonic spirit.

As such, the demonic spirit – now in control of the monk's body – had drawn all the spirit beasts toward its position, turning the temple into some sort of base. Was the demonic spirit trying to build an army of monsters? We had no idea. What we did know was that we had to exterminate the demons gathering inside the temple and exorcize the demonic spirit from the monk's body. Or kill him, if necessary – when it proved impossible to expel the demon from his body.
