Stupidly enough, the disciples were cleared of any blame because their masters took all responsibility for their crimes. The excuse "we were only following orders" was bandied about. To be fair, most of them were just following the orders of their masters, and if they chose to disobey, they would be killed. Couldn't blame them for going along. In any event, the real culprits and masterminds paid for their crimes.
