There's Something Off About My Pokémon. [32]

One minute later.

"I'm done, I'm done!" A Le collapsed onto the ground, looking defeated. "The gap in strength is just too big!" In the battle just now, Wingull hadn't even lasted two moves against Treecko!

Treecko was equally confused, looking at Lu Cheng with a puzzled expression, as if to say, "That weak?"

Recalling Treecko, Lu Cheng walked over and helped A Le up, laughing. "That's not what you said yesterday."

"We've only been training for less than half an hour, and we have three days of special training."

"How was I supposed to know?" A Le's head drooped, nearly resting on his chest as he muttered in defeat. "I thought Wingull and I were strong, at least strong enough to make it into the top 100."

"Forget it, I should just withdraw from the competition..."

A Le's self-defeated expression tugged at Lu Cheng's heart. Seeing him so down, Lu Cheng walked over and suddenly shouted, "A Le!"

The sudden shout startled A Le. Lu Cheng forcefully clapped A Le on the back and yelled, "Stand tall!"

"The A Le I know isn't some coward!"

"Even the hardest physics exams, where you haven't studied at all, you still manage to review the night before and pass!"

"So why can you manage to pass a physics exam but are so quick to give up on Pokémon training?"

A Le stared blankly at Lu Cheng. His determined words stirred something in A Le, and he couldn't help but wonder, can I really keep going?

Seeing A Le deep in thought, Lu Cheng smiled. "Three days of special training, you said it yourself."

"Whoever doesn't stick with it is a fool!"

Looking at Lu Cheng's smile, A Le suddenly punched him lightly in the chest and jokingly cursed, "Who's a fool? It's just three days, I'll stick with it and show you!"

Even if the results aren't perfect, as long as you give it your all, there won't be any regrets!

"The special training is divided into two parts: morning and afternoon. Lunch will be at home, and we'll meet back up at one o'clock. Any questions?"

"No!" A Le shouted, the red band on his forehead fluttering in the wind.

"Good. First, we'll do some physical training, and in the afternoon, we'll focus on move training." Lu Cheng smiled. "If there are no more questions, let's start."

"Wait!" A Le raised his hand.

"Can we skip the physical training?" A Le grimaced. "I've been bad at sports since I was a kid. I even used a medical excuse to skip my physical exam."

"That's just because you didn't want to run, not because you couldn't," Lu Cheng said, glancing at A Le. "Objection overruled. Training begins now!"

"We'll start with three laps around the field. I measured it; it's about a kilometer, just a warm-up."

"Vulpix, Treecko, let's go!"

Lu Cheng led the way, running ahead.

"Vul!"

"Treecko!"

The two Pokémon followed closely behind. For a flying Pokémon like Wingull, this wasn't difficult either. It flapped its wings and kept pace with Lu Cheng, leaving A Le behind, looking miserable. With a shout, he finally charged forward.

---

After the morning's physical training, A Le was sprawled on a pile of sand, panting heavily like a dog. Lu Cheng, also drenched in sweat, braced himself on his knees and called out, "One more set of push-ups! Hang in there!"

A Le waved his hand weakly, groaning in pain, "I can't... I really can't do anymore!"

Just then, A Le's exhausted Wingull once again took off from the ground, flying in circles over the training ground, practicing its dives. Watching Wingull's perseverance, A Le gritted his teeth and, trembling, forced himself back up, saying, "Damn it, let's go again!"

Vulpix and Treecko offered A Le a helping hand. Seeing the encouraging look in Lu Cheng's eyes, A Le nodded firmly.

In the afternoon, when Lu Cheng arrived at the construction site, he was surprised to find A Le already sitting there, waiting for him.

"You're here early?" Lu Cheng asked in surprise.

"Not really," A Le replied, pointing at his legs with a bitter smile. "I never left! I couldn't even walk! I had Wingull fly to the convenience store to get lunch."

"Wingull!" Wingull puffed out its chest, looking proud of itself.

"Nice," Lu Cheng laughed, patting Wingull on the head. He turned to A Le and said, "Don't worry. This afternoon is skills training. You can just sit on the sidelines and direct Wingull."

"Thank goodness!" A Le nodded quickly, looking as if he'd narrowly escaped disaster.

When it comes to Pokémon moves, the training has to be tailored to each one's strengths. For instance, Treecko is suited for a high-speed, high-attack style. As for the move "Protect" that Lu Cheng had recently acquired, he decided to teach it to Vulpix. After all, Vulpix can learn moves like Will-O-Wisp and Confuse Ray, making it more versatile for strategic battles.

But Lu Cheng still wondered what Wingull's strengths were.

Thinking this, Lu Cheng pointed his magnifying glass at Wingull:

WingullNature: Serious

Ability: Hydration

Moves: Growl, Water Gun, Supersonic

Evaluation: A bit frail, but possesses very high speed."

Lu Cheng was surprised. This meant that A Le's Wingull had excellent speed potential. However, out of its current moves, two were innate skills from birth, and having only three moves was far from enough.

Putting away the magnifying glass, Lu Cheng said, "A Le, it looks like your Wingull hasn't been getting enough nutrition."

A Le scratched his head, embarrassed, and said, "Yeah, I wasn't really into battling before, so I didn't pay much attention to Wingull's diet."

"Wingull even learned Supersonic from my classmate's Wingull," A Le added sheepishly.

Lu Cheng sighed, "If you're cramming for the last minute, let's aim to teach your Wingull Quick Attack first. It already has great speed."

With a smile, Lu Cheng encouraged, "I'm sure it'll pick it up quickly!"

Feeling grateful, A Le turned to Wingull and said, "Did you hear that, Baozi? We need to work hard!"

The Wingull, affectionately nicknamed "Baozi," squawked in response, its eyes curving into a smile.

Returning to Vulpix and Treecko, Lu Cheng pulled out Pecha Berries and Oran Berries from his bag, handing them to his two Pokémon.

"Vulpix!" After finishing its meal, Vulpix stood on the field, full of energy, and nodded at Treecko.

Was this a challenge?

Curious, Lu Cheng watched the two Pokémon, realizing that it was indeed a signal for a battle.

Treecko slowly stood up, carefully pulling out its cherished branch, and gave Lu Cheng a questioning look.

"Of course," Lu Cheng smiled and nodded. Friendly competition between his Pokémon was something he was more than happy to see. "I'll act as the referee, completely fair and impartial!"

"Treecko!" Hearing Lu Cheng's words, Treecko's eyes were filled with fighting spirit. It hadn't been happy about losing to Vulpix last time, and now was the perfect opportunity to prove itself.

But Vulpix felt the same way. This time, it was determined to defeat Treecko fair and square, using the new move it had just learned — Confuse Ray!
