So Many Questions

The next day, Kat woke up bright and early. She tried to do her normal routine of getting ready for work. She took a lukewarm shower because she was afraid that if it was too hot, then the steam might make her pass out.

Kat readied herself by brushing her teeth and combing her hair. She slipped her hair into a bun at the back of her head. Taking a look at herself in the mirror, she realized that she didn't look the best, but it would do for now.

" Hey stranger, where have you been these past few days?" a simple text popped up on the face of her phone. It was from one of her closest friends, Alana Dove.

"I've tried to call you like crazy. Call me as soon as you get this back and I better see you at work today."

Alana was one of strategic team members in her company. During the past few days Alana had written Kat a book about the happenings in the company.

She never failed with each day that passed to mention just how handsome their CEO was. Every day all she talked about, was his tall and muscular figure underneath a black suit. How every day she wanted to run her fingers through his long, black hair that stopped a little ways below his shoulders.

She was truly glad to return back to work with that crazy girl.

Alana had mentioned one thing in particular that rose a big question for Kat. She mentioned that every day the CEOs secretary came asking about her.

It never failed.

She wondered why the CEO was searching for her. Why was he searching for an employee who had just put in her two weeks notice? She was just another ant in the companies large army. She guessed that today would be the day that she finally met him. Hopefully she would find out the reason for his sudden interest in her.

Kat threw on her signature brown shawl as she stepped out of the front door.

Richard and Elise had left for work together earlier that morning. They left her there to struggle by herself. She paid that no mind and figured that she wouldn't get help anyway. Hell, she didn't want help from those bastards.

The sunlight suddenly dazed Kat as she stepped out into the driveway. She had to clutch the side of the house to study herself briefly. Closing her eyes she took a deep breath in and exhaled. She knew she was too lightheaded to drive so she had ordered for an Uber to arrive. He was here.

The Uber driver must have seen her become lightheaded because he attempted to open his door to help her.

"I'm fine. I'm coming." Kat gave a reassuring smile as she braced herself and began walking over to the car. She lowered herself into the backseat and thanked him for his concern.

" How are you today, boss lady?" The Uber driver asked her as he carefully backed out of her driveway.

" What a nice house you have here. I see you are headed to Wolf Enterprise. I also happen to work there as a part-time valet driver." The young man continued chatting as they drove along. It was pretty comforting to have regular conversation with someone and it almost eased her mind as she rode along.

" Well, isn't that nice, maybe we can chat sometime. My name is Katalina Hunter. What is yours?"

"My name is Christian. Christian Rhodes."

" She almost fainted outside of her house?" Wolf questioned Christian, who had just informed him of his morning. Wolf took off the rimless reading glasses that he had on, and placed them softly onto the desk in front of him. He tried to gather his thoughts.

Christian had told him that he witnessed Richard and his secretary leaving the house one hour prior to Kat.

Wolf had so many questions.

Why was the secretary there so early in the morning? It was almost as though she never left from the previous night before.

Even so, if his girlfriend was so sick, why would he subject her to struggle by herself? His girlfriend was so sick that she had to call an Uber driver? But he felt it OK to leave her to fend for herself?

Nothing makes sense to Wolf. However, he was glad to know that she was OK.

Dammit! He cursed aloud to himself. He didn't understand himself why he was so obsessed with this woman. He had more questions about himself and his interest, then of questions about her.

"She didn't sound too good," Christian added on. "She also looked like she struggled to dress this morning. But you will know that when you see her later."

The time seemed to be standing still. Wolf felt like the day was going passed too slow. He hopped from meeting to presentation after presentation waiting for the time that he decided to call Kat up to his office.

Finally gaining the courage, since he knew she was there, he finally signaled for Lyma to call the young lady to his office. She headed to leave his office and made a shocked gasp as she opened the door.

" What is it, Lyma?" Wolf asked, startled. He looked up in time to see Lyma darting out of his office to go check something. Curious at what could have startled her so bad, he jumped up to follow her.

As he ran out of his office door, he saw what shocked her so much.

Katalina Hunter was passed out on the floor at the entrance of his office!
