Clyde saw the flash of the dagger before Evelyn moved a muscle, but he was not fast enough to stop her. Evelyn plunged the iron dagger into George's chest and she immediately felt his grip loosen.
"What have you done?" He yelled, but he collapsed to the ground before Evelyn could answer.
Evelyn watched as George's body shriveled up. She hoped to the gods that her plan worked. She had read that vampires could be placed in torpor for periods of time and then be reawakened with the blood of another vampire. She had no way of knowing if it worked or not, but Clyde flashed forward and grabbed her by the arm, yanking her away.
"What have you done?" He yelled.
Evelyn's eyes flashed with the hurt she was feeling from Clyde's behavior. She thought that once he knew that George was not dead, he would forgive her actions, but his grip on her arm was painful and she winced at the pain.
