Chapter 77:Sylphs Quest

August walked inside of the tree to meet with the ones responsible for the community such as this. On the entry, he was met with guards that were unlike others.

There stood two women with unique looks. Their flawless skin colour of snow, with pointy ears and green hairs. Eyes colour of white, in which you could find your reflection.

Emotions were not present on their faces, and August had no idea who this woman was. Getting slightly curious, he inquired, looking at the Fairy, "Who are they?"

The Fairy looked towards the woman that stood at the entrance. With her eyes having fanatic addiction, she said with a voice full of excitement, "They are Sylphs! They are the ones that share the community with us. We live together, but they are much cooler. They are so wonderful I don't even need to explain. Sylphs are also the ruling party in this forest. So be respectful to them."

August once again looked at Sylphs, observing their appearance and decided to leave judging them on a later date. He was unsure how they behaved, but they were just somewhat goalless by the rough looks, with little to no concern about the outside world.

They walked inside and proceeded to walk deeper into the tree. Before long, they reached a huge hall where many Sylphs were discussing something, seemingly ignoring the presence of 2 newcomers.

But one woman that stood in charge of everyone else in the middle of the group directed her sight right into August's eyes, slightly narrowing hers and observing the new guest.

Suddenly she put her hand up, asking for silence from everyone else and waited until the entire hall started to drown in the silence.

"Well, I would like everyone to put their attention towards the guest that is here with us today," she spoke with a dominant and constant voice, making everyone look at August with their analytical eyes. She continued, "Well, I would like to know, what is the reason for someone like this young man to be present in the forest that hasn't welcomed any humans in centuries.?"

August reluctantly replied, "I'm no human."

Putting the finger on her chin, she tilted her head, asking, "Then who might I ask, are you?"

A short yet explanatory response was heard from August's mouth "Witcher."

Yet, a woman didn't even realize what the 'Witcher' was upon hearing his response. She inquired with a clueless voice, "Witcher? I don't know of such a species. Can you tell me about those of you? Oh, and before I forget, I'm the one in charge of everyone else here, high Sylph. You can call me Mali."

"Pleasure to know you, Mali. My name is August, and I'm Witcher, those created to kill monsters," explained August. This time he was polite since he knew well that being polite to those that could help you is something clever to do.

"Hmm, interesting", commented Mali. "So why did you arrive here today?" inquired Mali, looking right in August's eyes without blinking.

August cleared his throat and said something unusual for him, "I need your help."

"Help with what you need, young man?" continued Mali.

August looked around, spotting all of the people who had their attention on him, not letting their eyes slip. August inquired, unsure of the answer, "Could we do that somewhere in private?"

Mali looked around and didn't quite get the question that was asked by August. With her eyes narrowed, she inquired, "What do you refer to?"

"I mean, could we speak alone without others' presence?" August explained the point of his words clearer.

"Sorry, but I don't get why you need this. This is our community, we have no secrets from each other, and we live in harmony without lies and feeling like humans do," said Mali, with her face straight. It looked like she didn't care about others knowing about anything she could speak.

Well, having no clue about them, August found no other option but to speak and figure out if they were up to help him with the process of White Night.

"I would like your help with something particular. I need something called White night, when the moon lights up the world, like the sun during the day," explained August.

To make this process possible, sylphs started to speak about the effect August just spoke without shying away from saying the details and the ritual they needed to do.

"Is he referring to the Light Night ritual? We do it once in 10 years, but why did he ask about it right now? I don't think we will be doing that in the next five years' time," spoke one of the Sylphs

"I agree with you, but why did he come here at all. It looks pointless since this is something that he can't participate in," spoke another sylph.

"Especially with such a ritual, that requires a lot of us to use their connection to nature and a lot of sac from the Great Tree of Spirits."

Mali once again looked at August and informed him about her decision " I'm sorry young Witcher, but I can't allow you to be present in those fields during the process of the Light Night. And if you want to see it from afar, I recommend you come back in 5 years."

August was not satisfied with the response that he received from the leader of Sylphs and replied, "I'm afraid I can't do that."

He said that and got a grip on his sword, preparing to dash at the nearby Sylphs and use them as hostages to achieve what he wanted.

Taking a fast first and second step, he felt how his legs stopped touching the ground. Looking down, he saw that he was not touching the ground anymore.

He flew away from the tree without his mind even realizing this, unable to resist since he was literally levitating. He tried fighting but didn't dare to use magic at all. He decided that magic would be something that he would only use when there was no other option but this.

Once his body flew out of the tree, the air current disappeared, making him fall to the ground.

August made his way back to the tree with eyes full of fire, to be thrown out just like the try before. He tried to enter the tree several more times, but all of them were unsuccessful.

Dropping on his butt, August looked at the sky, thinking of the ways to get something he wanted without the need to wait for five more years. He was sure in 5 more years, he probably won't be able to resist the mage's control that had his destiny in his hands at the moment.

While sitting, the same Fairy arrived close to August, sitting on his shoulder, asking no permission. August ignored her since she never said anything useful, but then she spoke.

"I think I can help you," said Fairy, wiggling her legs off August's shoulder.

This immediately attracted his attention, and he inquired, "How?"

"Well, you talked about being someone who slays monsters. I think this forest requires help, and if you offer help with this, they might satisfy your demand." explained fairy.

"How dangerous is the job?" inquired August, having no interest in dying quite shortly.

"I don't know. All I know is that this place has ruined our balance for the past ten years. A lot of blood is spilt there almost every week of time.

Having no other way than this, August nodded and walked back to the tree along with the Fairy that protected him from the air current that tried to get rid of August once more.

When he stood in front of High Sylph once more, without hesitation, he said, "I'm willing to help your community with the monsters that live near your forest. In return, I will ask for the ritual of White night. Do you agree?"

Mali looked at August before asking, "Are you sure? The monster there is very strong. Will you be able to deal with him?"

"I do not have an option, but that is exactly what I was created for", responded August.

Clapping her hands, Mali announced, "This shall be, upon slaying the monster on the forest border, I will grant you your wish of White Night. Shall you die in the process, we will bury you under the Great Spirit Tree. Know this, and it will be an honour for you to serve as food for the tree. Your soul will unite with a tree and bloom in myriads of colours."

With a sigh, August shook her hand and thought to himself, 'What the hell did I once again get myself into?'
