Chapter 1, Sundale

My mom drove me to the airport, just on the outskirts of the big city. It was my 16th birthday, and I was about to move to Sundale- to live with my cousin Samantha and my aunt Kelly. I wanted to live in a new environment, after all, being in a big city for 11 years was getting kind of boring. For the past 11 years I have been living in New York, one of the largest megacities. And before that I've been living in England, a peaceful, cool city. But for now I'm moving to an unpredictable city. "Bye Aiden," my mom said as tears fell from her cheeks, "remember to call me when you are safe with your cousins." I smiled and said, "Don't worry, I will. I promise." and walked towards the entrance.

Likewise, I checked in the airport about 15 minutes later. And after 30 minutes of walking around, I boarded the plane. When I finally reached the Sundale airport, I saw two people holding up a sign that said 'WELCOME AIDEN'. That must've been my cousin and aunt that my mother has talked about over the years. My aunt Kelly hugged me and kissed me on the cheek. Samantha just gave me a handshake and a quiet "Nice to meet you, Aiden.". I just grinned and let my eyes glow red (literally). Samantha looked blank for a while; however, she did grin afterwards. No one else but my aunt and Samantha saw my glowing red eyes. Why on earth would I have red eyes? Well, that's the interesting part.

My whole family are werewolves. My aunt Kelly is a Beta — second rank in wolf terms. Samantha is a Zeta — Like a Beta, but smarter. And Me? An Alpha — The highest of them all (again in wolf terms). Although my family are all werewolves, they are not my pack. A few people in Sundale are going to be my pack.

Anyway, we walked towards the parking lot. And when we finally reached the lot, Samantha walked towards a big black glossy jeep as my aunt Kelly sat inside a smooth black Aston Martin. I knew my family was rich, but not THAT rich. "Common Aiden !" Samantha shouted from the passenger seat. I didn't have any luggage to put in the trunk of the car, so I sat in the driver's seat.

"So where to?" I asked.

"To get my friends," she replied, "you'll like them." Then suddenly she grinned and let her eyes glow yellow.

I raised an eyebrow and drove as she directed me through Sundale. It isn't the brightest place, with thick clouds covering the sky, barely letting any sunlight in. However, it is cool and peaceful, as my mum told me. We ended up at a place called Midnight roast, a café. I took the keys out of the ignition, locked the door and entered the café. It was small, with only 14 or so people inside, including the staff members. It turned out that Samantha has quite a lot of friends. There are two girls and three boys at the corner of the room.

"Hey guys, this is my cousin Aiden," she said, "Aiden this is Allison, Tyler, Cheryl, and Jake." My eyes darted towards the other boy she didn't introduce. I knew that face…

"It's been a long time," said the Ace with a big smile, "Welcome home."

Ace and I hugged for a long time. We were best friends when we were seven and promised each other no matter what happens we will always stay that way. We are still best friends. Tyler and Allison were nice people and a nice couple. So was Samantha and Jake, and Ace and Cheryl. When I was done catching up with them, we walked towards the cars — me, Ace and Cheryl in the jeep and the others in the black Mercedes.

I followed the Mercedes to a huge black modern house. We parked in the garage and stepped in the huge elevator. When we went out, aunt Kelly said "WELCOME HOME" to all of us. This was also Samantha's friend's home? What????

Later that night we were playing board/card games and Samantha explained to me what and why her friends all live in her house. "Aiden, we haven't been completely honest with you. See they have no leader and since my mom knows you're coming here soon, she thought, maybe you can be their alpha as well as mine. We need an alpha, and I'm sure you know lone wolves don't last long. " she said slowly, observing my face, to see the expression. I expected this day to come sooner or later. "Sure, I'll be your Alpha." Their faces light up with glee. "Okay thanks Aiden, by the way I forgot to tell you the black jeep is yours." she said. I was shocked, but too tired. With a yawn, I said, "Thanks." to her and my aunt Kelly.

Then I walked into my room, already decorated with my kind of style. What do I mean? I mean, I have a black bedroom with black curtains. A black low bed with an 85-inch TV in front of me, stuck on a concrete wall. My dark oak desk underneath the TV with a bronze lamp and leather chair. Further, into my room was my walk-in closet with a black framed full length mirror and a bar in the entrance for pull-ups. My closet was stocked with leather jackets, dark navy blue long and short sleeve button up shirts and pairs and pairs of jeans. In addition, there are also a couple of navy blue robes with my name 'Aiden' written on it, and silk navy blue PJs folded neatly in the drawer under where my robes were hung. All my clothes were either hung or folded neatly in a dark wood closet. There was a drawer with a glass top next to the mirror, filled with Rolex watches in the first drawer. The rest of the drawers are filled with either bottles among bottles of cologne or black silk socks. And finally, at the end of my room was my bathroom. The floors and walls are covered in black marble, with a huge bathtub at the left. The shower was just in the left corner next to the entrance. The doors are black glass and opaque.

It was about 12pm right now, and I was still wearing my dirty clothes. I went ahead and took a shower, got dressed, turned on the AC, closed the door and fell asleep before my head hit the pillow.
