MEMORY: MVPs & Cheerleaders (Part 1)

They used to say, in a group there’s always someone you’re closer than the rest. And there’s one you rarely hang out with alone. Kira was the latter for me. And it’s not that I disliked her or anything. I had come up with a couple of reasons:

One, because she was always with her teammates in high school. Two, because if she wasn’t with her teammates, she was with Tessa. And three, because once you get into college, you don’t really see your high school friends anymore. So when she asked if I wanted to hang out two days before Christmas, I knew something was up.

There’s still tension going on at home, so I thought it wasn’t such a bad idea. However, I never thought Kira’s idea of hanging out meant that I had to show up in her school’s gym wearing rubber shoes and jogging pants.
