Chapter 45: The Start of a Vision
Selmas lunges forward automatically, but Jigen seems to have known that this was coming, and he catches Aisling easily, going to the floor with her, both of them on their knees.
“I’m fine.” Aisling hasn’t passed out, but her eyes are out of focus. “I’m—” She shudders, her teeth knocking together, and Jigen winces. “Sorry, did I shock you?”
“It’s alright,” Jigen reassures her, though he shakes one of his hands out away from Aisling’s eyes. “It was just a little one.”
“Not you too,” Byrin moans. “How long—when were you going to tell us?”
“Why didn’t you tell us in the first place?” Selmas asks.
“We didn’t know what you would do,” Aisling admits. “How could we? All the Alyrisin that we’ve ever met destroyed our homes and our people. We had to have something that you wanted, that you would come all the way to Mordyn for.”
“So you had the Bloodstone this entire time?” Gwynfor demands.
