The silence in the room grew even heavier after Julus left.
Edmund, still nervous, cleared his throat, trying to resume the conversation where it had left off.
"As I was saying earlier, Adall Walpurgis, we would like you to officially rejoin the ranks of the family. Your banishment will be lifted, and you will have the right to use our name as well as all the privileges that come with it. So, what do you say, Adall?"
Edmund's previously evasive eyes locked onto Adall's at the end of his sentence, not looking away anymore. The atmosphere grew tense as Adall remained silent for a few more seconds, his gaze fixed on the spokesman's eyes as if he could see his own reflection in them. Then, suddenly, his voice was heard.
"I appreciate your interest in me, but I don't think someone like me should do such a thing. Your family name would be far too heavy a burden to carry."
