Chapter 4 The training begins

John tapped the holographic screen on the door, and it slid open to reveal the Commander waiting inside. As John entered, the Commander couldn't help but let out a sly chuckle and said, "I guess the urgency of being on time really did get to you. That's a good sign. A soldier should always be five minutes early. The other recruit should be here in about three minutes. So, let me walk you through what you can expect."

The Commander gestured for John to step closer as he continued, "We'll start with the basics. We only have two months to get you ready for the field, and we won't be taking it easy. The first half of this month will be entirely dedicated to getting you into at least half-decent physical shape. You'll be going through rigorous physical training, endurance building, and strength conditioning."

He looked John in the eye and emphasized, "The second half of this month is where we'll dive into combat training. You'll learn everything from hand-to-hand combat techniques, marksmanship, tactical strategies, and other essentials every soldier needs on the battlefield."

The Commander leaned in, his tone serious, "The second month will be entirely focused on harnessing the potential of your enhanced arm and eye. You'll be trained in using them effectively for various situations. At the end of the first month, we'll bring you along for a basic mission, so you can get a taste of what you're signing up for. And at the end of the second month, you'll be part of a more serious mission. It's a fast-paced training schedule, but it's necessary. Do you understand?"

John nodded in acknowledgment, realizing the intensity of the journey ahead.

"Good," the Commander said, preparing to put John through a grueling but necessary training regimen.
