Chapter 31: Where the ideas come from

“No, not yet.” The pretension in her voice makes me wish random busses sometimes drove through writing panels. “I’m still waiting for this one to sink in, and to get out of my head. I’m toying around with concepts, but I’m still in the planning stages. Maybe in another five years or so.”

After a smattering of polite applause, the audience quiets down and the moderator prepares to ask the next question. “On that same line, this question is for everyone. What does your writing process generally look like? How do you do it, that is?”

“I outline everything,” Sylvia says. “My notes for Fallen Angel were almost longer than the manuscript itself. I make sure I know the background story for every character, every location, and every scene. I leave nothing at all to chance.”
