Beginning

"Can I really survive in here for two years.." muttered Ekalavya as he stood in front of the entrance to the gigantic military academy.

The academy that he got admitted to was the largest in South Asia, namely 'The Military Academy'.

There were 12 of these academies scattered all over the globe. South Asia Academy targeted countries involving India, Nepal, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Maldives, and Bangladesh. There were 6 of these academies in Asia itself with the South Asia academy ranking at the bottom.

Of course, regardless of the ranking, these academies were giants when it came to resources and helped nurture talents to a very high degree. One could only wonder how much money had been spent to create a state of the art academy.

"That is highly unlikely. Only about 40% of the students enrolled in the academy come out alive after the two years are over. Well, it was nice knowing you, Ekalavya. Nothing would happen to you, of course; it's just me who might not be alive at the end of everything."

The one who spoke this time was Abhirup. He was Ekalavya's childhood friend. Both of them belonged to the same orphanage.

"If that is what fate has in store for us, we can't avoid it, I guess. Let's go and register ourselves for the hostel," said Ekalavya as he looked towards a long queue just near the entrance.

"State your name, age, place of origin, and ability." asked a person at the registration desk. He had three people standing behind him. All of those people exuded were tall and had sharp eyes. They looked to be around 6'4, and their build seemed to be pretty heavy as well.

"Ekalavya, Age 14, India, and my ability is similar to 'heightened senses'."

The person who was typing down the details paused for a second and looked up and said

"Explain your ability in detail."

"I have 3x the powers of a normal human being, and as such my senses are heightened compared to a normal person," replied Ekalavya.

"So, does that mean you can run at 100 miles per hour? Ridiculous. Be more descriptive and be quick. We don't have all day for you. It is important information for your registration process as well."

Ekalavya felt embarrassed and said, "Well... I can run at 60 miles per hour. My reaction speed is much faster than a normal person as well. My wounds heal faster. I see more, hear more, eat mo- "

"Hold on a second!"

The person interrupted Ekalavya as he looked at him. He couldn't believe what he just heard.

"You're telling me that you have not one but multiple abilities? Are you serious about this? You do know that there is another examination for the proper measurement of your abilities, right?"

The person said all of this while taking a good look at Ekalavya. He was trying to gauge if what Ekalavya said was the truth by reading his facial expression.

"Yes sir… I'm not lying."

"Alright. Enough. Never thought I'd say it, but it seems like we have a Superman over here." the person smirked while typing something into a computer.

"Place your thumb here for a biometric scan."

"Open your eyes wide open for the retinal scan. "

A few seconds later.

"Alright, you got registered in our database. Here is your ID. Keep it safe. There is going to be a fine if you lose it. You will find your hostel & room details on your ID."

"Each room is shared between 7 people. Your room will have a shared computer. Be sure to sign up in the student portal of the academy. The academy is a massive campus, and we have a lot of divisions to look after, so most of the announcements will be made through the portal." said the person with a happy expression as handed over the ID.

Ekalavya took the ID and crossed the entrance and took a good look at the campus. The registration process was carried out in a small room just near the entrance gate. The room seemed to be soundproof since the ruckus didn't seem to have any impact on the queue outside.

Ekalavya sighed in relief.

He decided to wait for his friend as he looked through his ID. He noticed a piece of peculiar information on it.

"Category: Classified III"

"Huh"

"Ma-maybe they do this to hide talents from being snatched by private organizations,"

"Well.. at least I hope that's the case. It's more than enough for me if I get a proper set of meals. I don't want any trouble apart from this," thought Ekalavya to himself as he found someone put a hand on his shoulders. He already knew who it was.

"What's up, my man? Why the long face? Did something happen at the desk?" asked Abhirup as he took a peek at Abhirup's ID.

Ekalavya waved his hand, and his ID vanished before Abhirup could take a good look at it.

"Hey! Why are you hiding your ID dude?" asked Abhirup with an annoyed expression.

"What category did you get placed in? Just to let you know, I got classified as a Metahuman!! Hehe. What about you, Mr. Superman? I bet you got into the Metahuman category as well." smirked Abhirup feeling proud.

"None of your concern. Pick your luggage. I want to get to my room quickly. I haven't had any food since yesterday night and I'm hungry." said Ekalavya as he started walking towards a bus stop.

Three buses had the same stop as his hostel. He got into the one with the least number of people.

"Things got 0 to 100 real quick." thought Ekalavya to himself as his tensed up a little.

He took out his ID and ran his fingers over the information once again. He looked out of the window of the bus and sighed.

"I don't know what's going to happen on my second examination but I'd rather keep a low profile here. Things do not look too optimistic for me."

...

At the registration desk.

One of the three guards was looking towards the bus stop.

"A metahuman and a 14-year-old Classified category. I must report to the Headmaster. Things are going to be troublesome over here for quite a while..." said the man as he vanished from his spot.
