Chapter 11 : Revelations

*Beth’s POV*

It’s funny that I thought my day couldn’t get any worse while I was being mocked by the policewomen and watching coffee spill on the ground. But no. I wished those things were happening to me now rather than in the current predicament that I was in.

I was chained to the wall in an uncomfortable standing position. It wasn’t even fair that Zed had left me here! I had done nothing to deserve this punishment. I memorized the whole assistant’s code and hadn’t broken any rules.

Zed must have forbidden anyone to enter because I stood alone with only my thoughts for company. My stomach rumbled, and my lips were chapped and dry. The tea accidentally spilt on the red-haired woman was the only drink I’d had today.

I imagined the kind of food and snacks in the break room fridge—daydreaming about eating everything this room offered. It made my mouth water. The injustice of the situation made me angry.
