Boundaries
Raine didn't know what to expect as she walked up to the front door of their house. She was sure that Nathan had something in store for her, but she didn't know what exactly it would be that was waiting for her behind the door. Was it some kind of a surprise? Would it be something along the lines of him preparing something special for her?
Or maybe he actually meant what he said and that it was simply them having dinner as a family? Nevertheless, she didn't really mind. She had already come to a decision to forgive Nathan the moment he did something noteworthy tonight. And surely, he'd be able to do that as easily as giving her a hug.
"It's me."
Knocking on her own door, Raine announced her arrival before actually using her own key to the house. It was the proper thing to do. It would also give them a bit more time if they were actually preparing something fun for her.
"I'm opening the door now," she announced.
