Chapter 13:

Marcus cleared his throat and reclaimed his chair with a growl and a head nod. I rolled my eyes and followed his rule. "If this will get you to talk," I whispered under my breath.

"Now as the witches have told you, you and Sly are the chosen ones. You are going to decide the fate of the whole supernatural world, but in different aspects of the world. So, what we did not tell you about the Keuze… or the choice, since you do not know Dutch," he said with a chuckle. I rolled my eyes and was about to snap at him, but Brian integrated us with a bark to Marcus. Marcus rolled his eyes and continued. "The Keuze states that you and Sly will have to make your own choices about what to do on your own. But you can help get the same answer or choice with the sibling bond. That we are trying to force onto you."

"Like how the witches explained," I commented, tired of getting the same information in just different forms. Marcus let out a low growl and rolled his eyes. I sighed and continued on, "Why do we have to decide for different parts of the supernatural world? We come from both parts of the world. I mean I think I speak for Sly, when I say that we want to decide both worlds together," Looking at Sly for an agreement, he avoided eye contact with me. "Do you not agree?"

"It is hard to say. I agree with your logic, but then again, I really do not like witches. I would be completely fine with the witches disappearing," he said.

"That is my nephew," Marcus said with a boisterous laugh.

I glared at him. "This is not how things are supposed to be taken. We are supposed to be the chosen ones. That implies that we have to have a non-discriminative voice on the matter."

"Easy for you to say. You don't know witches like I do," Sly stated.

"What have they done to you that is so bad?" I asked with a questioning gesture.

"Well… well… they insult us. They kill us," he said with a waiver in his voice.

"Have they?"

"Well… not exactly. They kill our spirits."

I slapped my hand against my face and said, "You are so spiteful. They are like judges in this situation since you do not associate with humans. They are keeping the peace and not letting things drive an opening for the humans to find us."

"Well…" he started to say as I glared at him. "I guess you are right." He looked so defeated as he said that. He lowered his head and avoided eye contact with me and anyone.

"Nice going," Kenny commented. I glared at him, and he let out a chuckle.

"One of the witches, one of the beasts, born on the blue moon, outcast of both species. One of the moons, one of the night skies, that which they combined, combined to be more than one witch or one beast can ever endure. The power and wisdom shown can bring the world to an end and show us the power to be able to be reentered into a new world," Brian mumbled.

"What does that mean?" I said with a chuckle.

"It was an old saying an old witch used to say around these parts. She was your grandmother. She was crazy," George said. "She made Mei look simple."

"She was a character and a half that is for sure," Marcus agreed. "Everyone was afraid of her, but she never exposed our secret, so she was able to live on."

I raised a bow in curiosity, but got back on track, "So this chant or saying that my grandmother said, what did it mean exactly?"

"When she started saying it… it was around the time I first met your mother," Brian said.

"But you are not the first set of twins to have been in our history. There were these old siblings known as Luther, who was the sky, and Lilly, who was the moon. They were impossible to separate. They did everything together and, of course, that was after they were separated for fourteen years. The way they acted was not like any other set of twins or siblings before them. But when everyone told them they had to stop and decided which path they wanted to take. They started resenting their family… both witches and beasts. They started the Slechts and the Dunkels generations ago. They wanted their world to be different from what their parents wanted," Donny said.

"They both were crazy mad when they couldn't be together anymore," Brian added. "The families did not want the witches to hang out with the beasts and vice versa. They did everything to get the witches to change their minds, same with the beasts. They wanted to change the world, but that was decades ago. Things have changed. And things have gotten a lot worse than they were back then."

"They made the prophecy that there will be another set of twins born on the blue moon that will bring together the witches and beasts, good and bad, so that they will see that they are fighting the same battle, and that if they do not work together, bad will come all," Marcus continued. "That was over five hundred years ago, and that prophecy has never come true...until now, when you guys came along."

"Well, you guys are the only ones that fit the prophecy since Luther and Lilly. And since that prophecy came out, the number of Slechts and Dunkels has increased, while the number of Lichts and Goeds has decreased," Brian explained.

"The Goeds are us, Eve. It looked like you were confused," Kenny said, while standing close to me. I rolled my eyes at him.

"So, everyone has been waiting for a set for twins of years. Everyone has… not just the bad but the good as well. The prophecy also says that the choice will decide the fate of the ending of the supernatural world. The Lichts and the Dunkels want to learn from each other, but are worried about the outcomes, and the same with the Slechts and the Goeds. We all want to be one, but the outcome is currently just a giant mess," George explained, finally speaking. "So, if you and Sly make the same choice, then life will be easier for the world to combine, but if they are different there will be a war of the bad coming together versus the good remaining separate."

"But that still has nothing to do with us. We were not born on a blue moon...were we?" I asked, looking at Brian for some help.

"You were born on a blue moon, which is extremely rare." Brian explained, "Most times twins look alike and are almost impossible to tell...at least with beasts that are…like Evan and John. But on the blue moon, things change. They will each take a different nighttime appearance. One will be white and gray with black eyes; that one will be the full moon. The other one will be black and silver with white eyes to look like the nighttime sky. These twins will have incredible powers that will be stronger than most other witches and beasts. They will be the ones to decide the fate of the supernatural world."

"So… Sly and I really are special?" I asked more of a thought, though.

"Yeah, that is why the Dunkels and Slechts want you or Sly on their side," Donny explained. "So, you need to be careful and stay around the twins and Kenny. Maybe even more next to Kenny… he will protect you the best."

"I think I will pass on the whole… time with Kenny. He did try to kill me," I said as if a joke.

"Maybe that is a good idea," Sly chuckled.

"I know you are special. I am not going to do anything dumb," Kenny said, with a wink. "I will protect you."

"Okay, so Sly and I need to work on our sibling bond, and we need to decide things together before our November birthday. That does not sound that hard. So, is that the whole truth?" I asked, tired of being lied to.

"Well, kind of. You and Sly will need to decide and to work on your sibling bond. But you will also need to understand the truth of your powers," Brian explained.

"Wait, what? You said the truth of the powers? What does that mean?" I asked, confused, and somehow holding hands with Kenny. Then quickly letting go, he looked a little hurt after I released his hand.

"Beasts don't just transform into wolves, and witches can do more than just spells," Marcus explained, not giving me any hints about what they could be, as if this was a joke.

"What? So, I not only have to learn how to be a beast, but also how to be a witch all over again and learn more? All before school starts. All before our birthday. And I still need to talk to the Dunkels and the Slechts, too. How hard can that be?" I asked sarcastically.

"Yes, but you have Sly at least," Brian said, hopeful.

I shook my head and sighed. "Why do you want to talk to the Dunkels and the Slechts?" Sly asked.

"Because I need both sides of the story. Are you in this with me?" I said with puppy dog eyes.

"Let's get started," Sly said, winking at me and sitting up taller.

"Okay, let us get started on this training. Time is not going to get any longer. So, let us try to beat it," I said, wanting this new development to change for the better.
