Chapter 11:

As Sly and I walked out to find the witches, they were standing around a circle drawing something on the ground.

"Look who finally came!" Feuera commented while giving Sly a nasty look.

Mei cleared her throat and instructed, "To start off with, both of you will need to choose… or actually be chosen by your colors."

"Colors?" Sly said, with a cocked eyebrow.

"Don't judge our way of life, beast. This is how the magic flows inside you," Feuera said, still with a nasty look for Sly.

"As Feuera said," Mei said, irritated with Feuera and Sly's actions. "Now each color represents a different type of magic. There are nine colors. Feuera shows red and yellow, which are fire and light. Blau is white and blue, for wind and water. And for me, I am purple and green, for metal and nature. Then there is also orange for animals, black for darkness, and pink for all the types of magic. Most of the magic is paired up with two and on rare occasions, there are three different colors that the person wears. Each match up for the colors associate and tell a story as to how they combined. Each power has to deal with nature."

"Now we have to get you guys to be chosen by your powers. You both need to sit in each of the circles and chant a spell to get the colors to change your clothes color. So, you will also need to change into our cloaks and dresses. Sly, you will have to wear a suit," explained Blau with an eyeroll as she said Sly's name. She did not even look at Sly as she instructed him.

"What is the chant we need to do? Also how do the colors know our powers? Colors can't be powerful!" Sly said with hatred and a little enjoyment in what was going on.

"Well, Sly, the whole process will look into what you like and what you were around as kids," explained Feuera, who looked like she was going to forever hate Sly. "Plus, colors are more powerful than hearing what everyone has to say with mind reading." Sly looked at her and let out a low growl, but the growl seemed to be enjoying things.

"Enough!" Mei exclaimed in irritation. "Just sit in the circles and get ready for the chant. So please… Listen to me." The fury in Mei's eyes reminds me of when I get into a heated argument with Marcus. I feel as if they are challenging me for some reason.

In respect, I sat down in the nearest circle and Sly sat down next to me with a chuckle and an eyeroll. Then Blau chanted a spell that changed our clothes to all black clothing. "You know you could just give us a new set of clothes rather than making your magic do this. I don't want to look like you with your ragged dirty clothes," Sly said.

With a snort, Feuera ignored him and started scribbling some sort of symbols into the dirt around the circles. I looked at Sly to see how he was doing with the whole witch thing. He seemed to be having fun joking around, but I could feel tension between Sly's comments and the witches. For me, I know that I might have a problem with the whole supernatural world, but I was expecting Sly to get angry with the fact that he was working with his worst enemy. But he seemed to be having more fun than he was being afraid that they would fight him.

He saw that I was looking at him and he transmitted a thought using Gualta, "Wow, they know so much. They are just filling us with information. Just look at the dirt. It looks like they are trying to make a tunnel for the ants or for the water to start flowing." He ended it with a laugh that was so funny, which made me laugh. Mei snapped her eyes at us, and I instantly looked down.

"Okay, now that everything is ready, and you seem to be having fun…" Mei exclaimed. "It is time for you to learn the spell. Repeat after me. Taqua…"

"Taqua," repeated Sly and I. We sounded like John and Evan, which made me laugh a little.

"Damica Quadra…" Mei continued with a nasty look.

"Damica Quadra…" we said like robots in no emotion.

"Frema Perade…" Mei instructed.

"Frema Perade…" we repeated.

"Okay, now put it all together," Mei instructed.

Sly looked at me and rolled his eyes. Then we repeated, "Taqua Damica Quadra Frema Perade."

That was good. Maybe next time, say it with more energy and take it seriously," Feuera said, through a glare at Sly. "But that really will not matter, you will only need to know it for this spell, and you will only use it once. So, no hard time. But when you are doing actual spells try a little harder. We are a serious group of people."

"Let's go ahead and start the color choosing ceremony," instructed Mei with a smirk as if she were proud of Feuera.

"Why do I feel as if we are getting challenged?" I transmitted to Sly.

"Because they are threatened by us," he said with a smirk.

Mei cleared her throat in disparagement. I slightly bowed my head. "Don't be so submissive to her. She is nothing to fear," Sly said as he stared Mei down.

"Get to the spell!" she ordered.

"Taqua Damica Quadra Frema Perade," Sly and I repeated at the same time.

Once the last word left our mouths, a bunch of colors started to spin around in front of us and slowly started to vanish into the air. As they were floating, I saw all the colors and a glimpse of golden light. It seemed to be the same color that appears when I am with Marcus and the beasts.

The colors continued to come in and vanish, until finally the colors started to change your black clothes into different colors. It took about one minute for Sly to have his colors and let out a sigh. But it took me about ten minutes to finally have my colors.

I looked at Sly and saw his clothes. He was wearing an orange cloak and a green suit. "Wow, no surprise the beast gets an animal and nature magic," Feuera said with an eye roll.

"For once, I agree with you," Sly said as Feuera let out a disappointed sigh.

Then everyone looked at me with a disbelief look. I felt a little ashamed of myself, so I looked down at my clothes. I was wearing a pink dress and my cloak was yellow and black.

"Well, that is a first," Feuera said with a surprise in her voice.

"What does this mean?" I asked, and based on the look on Sly's face, he was thinking the same thing I was thinking.

"Well…there is a legend about this situation... at first males were never allowed to be witches unless they are twins and one is a female," explained Mei.

"Well, that is definitely not the first time we heard that this week and summer," Sly said with attitude. I could tell he did not like this whole witchy vibe.

"Yes," Feuera sassed as she stared at Sly.

"And the legend also says that… someone will have a pink and black and yellow outfit; then they are going to decide the fate of everything that is known to the supernatural world, of course," explained Mei.

"Oh wait, let me guess. If I choose one side, then the other side will get mad. Then if this happens, bad will happen…I have heard it all at this point," I said with annoyance in my voice, and my head hurt thinking about all of my choices that I have to do. "Oh, also I have until I die to decide things, right?"

"Who told you that? You have until your death?" Mei laughed out loud. "You have until you turn 15. And if I recall right, you have about six months until that happens. So, in November, things will have to be different."

"What? Marcus and Brian never told me that. I thought I had until I was ready to decide," I said aggressively.

"Well, that does not surprise me. Dogs never tell the truth to their offspring," Blau said with an eye roll. "They would never know how to tell the truth."

"Oh, I am going to yell at them when I get home," I exclaimed, staring off to the house.

"Well, that needs to wait just a bit. First, let us train. You need to understand your elements and then learn some spells before you can leave," Mei instructed with a smirk.

"Okay, fine," I said, calming down.

"This doesn't sound too hard," Sly said as he glared at Feuera.

"How about we start our work?" Feuera said with some expressive looks on her face.

"How do we do that?" I asked.

"Follow your heart," Mei instructed as if she was challenging Sly and I to see if we were worthy.

Sly just acted on instinct which seemed to be easy for him. Which makes sense because he had to deal with animals and nature for his whole life, but he struggled with the idea of using the magic with his hands rather than with his whole body and transforming into a beast.

I, on the other hand, had trouble with all the elements. I eventually got the hang of it. It felt like I was riding a bike again in my life. It did make me feel like I was at home. I think it was because in some way all these elements were in my room or house.

There was fire in the candles that were always lit. Animals were always around because Mom loved taking in animals off the street. There was always a night light on in the room. I had a rose always growing in my room like Beast's rose for his life. There was a little water fountain in the room to put me to sleep. The windows were always open for the wind to come in. The bed frame and decorations were metal. And then the room felt dark to me, but always was light up. So, I felt like I was myself, just like I felt in my beast form. This is strange but comforting.

After about an hour of getting in control of our elements, we were entrusted with a spell book that was crafted with each of our individual needs in mind.

"When saying these spells, make sure to practice on inanimate or nonliving creatures' objects because if not the spell will not work, and you will lose your spellcasting ability… forever. So, make sure to cast spells with care and take your time in the beginning stages. Life will be easier if you do. But with more experience you will eventually be able to cast spells on living and moving objects," instructed Mei as she handed us each a spell book.

"How did you get these so fast? Did you do a spell to make them appear?" Sly asked with his stupid sarcastic attitude.

"For your information, yes. We did do a spell, your stinky little dog," Feuera replied angry at Sly.

"That is enough, both of you. We are now one family. Sly and Eve are both half Ellen and we must treat them as so. Understood?" Mei ordered in her scary voice.

Sly and Feuera both shook their heads yes in agreement, but there was a sense of hatred. There was a weird connection between them.

"Good. Now to get used to each other, Feuera teaches Sly how to do some spells. I am going to help Eve. Blau, make sure they don't kill each other, please," Mei said as if she wanted Feuera to kill Sly.

We each headed out in different directions. As we left, Sly let out a slight sigh and eye roll. "Who do you think is going to win?" Sly transmitted to me.

I chuckled. "I think it might be a tie. Hey, why is there so much tension between you guys?" I asked.

"Nothing," he said like he was hiding something.

"Let's get to work," Mei ordered me as if she knew I was talking to Sly. Mei instructed me how to use my magic and that was all she did.

For the next several hours before lunch, Mei and I did not talk. It was strictly me training and her staring at me in disapproval.
