The boathouse was almost as dirty as the actual home. Except Miya spent a lot more time down here than other people. Mrs. Diane always sent her down here when she was in trouble. Well when she didn't feel like hitting her atleast.
Miya sprawled out across the floor and sighed. She had really messed up this time, she would be in here for a couple days.
Miya heard something in one of the old boxes sitting in the corner and grabbed the broom to defend herself.
the box continued to shift and shake.
Miya raised the broom nervously.
Trix climbed out of the box lazily and stared at Miya.
Miya put the broom back down and sat down criss-cross on the table that held the family's canoe oars.
Trix immediately jumped into her lap and laid down.
Miya stared at him for a long hard moment.
"Did I really put salt in Mrs. Diane's tea?"
Trix stared at her again as he had right before he knocked over Mrs. Diane's tea cup. It was kind of unsettling for Miya.
"Yes, Miya. Why else would I knock over her precious China? Just to get you in trouble?" The cat seemed to snicker.
Miya jumped up, knocking Trix out of her lap.
"You can talk! Y-you really can talk!"
Trix climbed back in her lap cautiously. Without saying a word.
Miya slowly began to pet Trix, trying to understand what just happened.
The door to the boat house rattled as if being unlocked. Miya jumped up again knocking Trix out of her lap once more.
Mrs. Diane opened the door. "Let's go, Miya."
Miya was confused. Mrs. Diane had never called her out of the boathouse early, much less come get Miya herself.
"Is everything alright, Mrs. Diane?"
"Do not make me ask twice, Miya!"
Miya cowered and hurried out of the boathouse behind Mrs. Diane.
