He's here

Reign stood up from the chair as soon as the maids were done adorning her hair with jewels.

"Erm…. Isn't this a little too much? I'm just going over to my parents house" The maids on her left smiled.

"You are going to be a princess soon Milady. Jewels like this are meant to be in your hair. It signifies wealth and dignity. It was supposed to be more than this but since you aren't a princess yet, this should be enough" Reign eyes widened. How much more could fit into her hair?

Just then, the sound of the door opening caught their attention and Ares walked in. The maids immediately bowed their heads as they exited the room.

"Are you ready?" Reign smiled as she walked towards him.

"Where did you go so early in the morning?" She questioned.

"I went to visit my father so he would give me the scroll for our betrothal. Your parents need to sign it" He handed it over to her then was about to walk away when she grabbed his hand.

"Are you okay? Last night, you…."

"I don't want to talk about it so I suggest you forget what happened last night" Reign frowned as he yanked his hand out of her hold and walked towards the door.

"I'll be waiting for you outside in the carriage" Then he left leaving her confused. Why was he suddenly being so mean and closed off?

She shook off the thought then glanced at herself one last time before leaving the room.

The ride down to her house was Very awkward. None of them said a word to each other or even spared themselves a glance.

Reign didn't bother breaking the silence because why would she? He was the one acting like a jerk and if he wanted to behave that way then fine, she was good at the silent treatment.

After some minutes, Area cleared his throat awkwardly before turning to Reign who didn't look his way.

"I'm sorry for the way I acted this morning" Reign slowly turned towards him.

"Why did you act like that?" Ares sighed.

"Because you're the only one that has ever seen me so vulnerable and I don't know how to react towards you after last night" Reign reached out and placed her hand on his.

"If you don't want to talk about it then it's fine. I'll never judge you for being vulnerable" She gave him a small smile before redrawing her hand. Ares stared at her for a while then chuckled.

"You're a very unusual lady" Reign raised an eyebrow.

"In a good way?" Ares nodded.

"I don't know yet" Before she could question him, the carriage came to a halt and Ares spotted Julian and some of his men waiting upon his arrival. He turned to Reign.

"This is where I drop off but I promise, I'll come to your house after I'm done" Reign nodded at him.

"Goodbye" Ares nodded, then got out of the carriage. She narrowed her eyes as he walked over to a group of men.

"I wonder what he's up to" She thought as the Carriage rode off.

As soon as Reign came down from the Carriage, Anna and Jess rushed up to her with big smiles on their faces.

"Oh my! See how beautifully you are dressed, Reign. You're literally glowing" Reign smiled at Anna.

"How did you guys know I was coming?"

"Have you seen the carriage you rode in with? It can be seen from a mile away. By the way, why is it going without you?" Jess asked worriedly.

"It's going to go pick up His highness" Anna's and Jess' eyes widened.

"Oh my! We'll get to see the prince?! Tell us all about him, is he as handsome as everyone says or is he gorgeous?" Reign was about to say something when her aunt called.

"Reign? What are you doing here?" Reign turned to her with a slight bow and Linda couldn't help but narrow her eyes.

The wretched girl that used to live in their barn now looks more wealthy than them. Even her clothes and hair adornments were astonishing.

"I came for your signatures so we could finalize the marriage" She walked over to Linda and was about to hand her the scroll when Isabella came out of the house.

"I never thought I'd see you again. What the fuck are you doing here anyways? Does the prince beat you up and now you're looking for a place to hide? Well sorry to burst your bubble but we can't take you in" Reign wanted to brag about how well Ares treated her and how close they have gotten to becoming friends but she knew Isabella would probably become jealous and Linda and Jacob won't sign the documents so she plastered on a fake frown on her face.

"The castle is really rough and the prince hardly even comes to visit me, I'm miserable" The same the smile of triumph on Isabella's face and knew she could get them to sign the documents before Ares showed up.

"If that's the case then why are you dressed up in such Expensive Clothing?" Reign sighed dramatically.

"Because I can't tarnish the royal family's name" Linda nodded slowly.

"Fair enough. Come in, James and I will sign the scroll" Then Linda walked away, leaving Isabella and Reign.

Reign bowed her head at Isabella before walking into the house. She handed the Scroll over to Linda then Linda took it over to James' study. Minutes later, she came back with the Scroll already signed and handed it to Reign.

"There, you can leave now" Reign shook her head.

"The prince said he wanted to meet you all so I'll have to be here for a while" Linda raised an eyebrow.

"Where is he then?"

"He said he had to take care of something. I'm sure he'll be here soon" Or she hoped he'll be here soon. She never thought she would prefer the castle over this house.

Screams of pain and agony could be heard in the room as Area stepped on a man's head.

"Why did James send you?" Ares questioned again.

"He…. He didn't send me, I…. I acted on my own" Ares rolled his eyes. He grabbed the man by the neck and raised him up from the ground.

"So you don't want to talk, is that it? Loyalty won't get you anywhere I can assure. James won't even care if you're gone so think wisely" The man shook with fear. Everyone knew Ares never made empty threats.

"He…. He just wanted to send you a message. He wanted…. He wanted you to know that he would kill everyone around you if you got in his way" Ares scoffed.

"Well the message wasn't passed properly because all I got from that was that he wanted to play dirty and that's what I am known for, Playing dirty. Andrew, Julian, Tie him to the chair" The man's eyes widened as they both grabbed his hand and placed him on the chair. He shook furiously to avoid them from tying him but they were far stronger than him and we're able to tie him down tightly.

"What are you going to do with me?" Ares smirked at the fear in the man's voice. He took the clipper on top of a table then turned to the man with a menacing smile.

"Now when James sees you with no fingers, my message would be passed perfectly" The man shook his head as he tried to move away from Ares.

"No!"

Isabella scoffed as she stared at Reign.

"I thought you said the prince was coming?" Reign nodded.

"He is, he'll be here soon" Isabella snickered.

"I'm pretty sure he has left you here with us. Were you that annoying that he had to drop you off back here?" The smile on Isabella's face showed Reign that she would always be happy if Reign was in a dilemma. That didn't concern Reign though, she couldn't help but wonder what was taking Ares so long.

"He's coming. He promised me. Even if he doesn't, the carriage will come back for me" Isabella furrowed her eyebrows.

"You said the castle was rough so why do you seem eager to leave here?" Reign's eyes widened slightly. She was about to say something when her eyes caught sight of A gorgeous god at the door. She immediately walked up to him with a smile.

"Took you long enough," Ares smiled at her.

"I'm sorry to have kept you waiting. Sir, Madam, I'm the second son of the King, Ares" Reign turned around and saw how shocked everyone was to see just how devilishly handsome Ares truly was and somehow, he made her feel like she had achieved something…..
