Chapter 5 - Moments Of Love And Care

Brian was on the call when Mike barged in his room. He got surprised and disconnected the call, only to face him calmly.

There was a huge difference in their temperaments where on one side Mike has been a raging, picking fights, carefree and childish at times whereas Brian was just his exact opposite. He has been logical, reasonable, approachable but just doesn't like interactions much. Brian tried to stay low-key as he has been fighting his own battle each day.

"So, What brought you here?" Brain asked Mike solemnly.

As he had already guessed what happened back in the day would affect him. Being his half brother and friend he knew Mike well since they grew up together. They share the same blood but that has never affected their bond.

"Nothing, can't I visit my brother?" He replied in an uncanny way.

"Umm.. Well if you're looking for answers then I can't help you!"

Brian cares about him so he can't babysit him when all Mike needs is the courage and understanding about the situation.

"Look Mike, I know what happened so I want you to stand up on your own, in this case I can't help you," saying this he exited the room.

"Brother..., why do you need to be so mean?" Mike yelled with a choked throat.

All he got in an answer was a loud thud, "Banggg…"

Mike needed time to calm down so being with his brother was the best fit. Brian came after an hour to call him.

"Mike, Mike, I know you've not eaten anything get up lazy a** and help me!" He said casually and entered the room only to find Mike sleeping on the rocking chair.

He dimmed the light, covered up and went downstairs to prepare a light dinner.

Brian lives alone in the small rented apartment and is fending for himself. He has been a studious guy so the school is bearing his tuition fee and other things.

Though he has been offered help numerous times by his father but he just refused because of his past grudges. His mother died four years ago in an accident, after that he had been living all in the care of his neighbor Granny who had no children.

It's that time when he met Mike and not knowing his familial ties. Last year during his mother's death anniversary, his father saw Mike with him.

Then he told him that they share the same blood. At first his reaction was of repulsion but later he changed his attitude. Whenever he saw Mike his heart was always pierced with thousands of needles but he could do nothing. Seeing a carefree Mike approaching and clinging to him he couldn't resist anymore.

He allowed Mike to visit him or use his things but asked his father to not visit him anymore. For the sake of Mike his father agreed but told him to receive his monthly allowances to which he refused again and said that he had no father.

Mike knew about Brian being his brother for a long time. He got his transfer because he wanted to search for him. In the end, he has been successful and developed a bond with him.

He usually wasn't a chatty one but with Brian he has been the gossiping one. There knowingly he shared his childhood references and Brian realized that Mike was none other than the kid he used to play, who stuck to him no matter how much he tried to get rid of him.

His trail of thoughts was distracted by the whistling of the rice cooker. He turned around to switch off the knob and saw Mike sitting at the dining table.

He asked curiously, "What were you thinking so deeply? You have been unfazed by my calling."

"What? Nothing… Did you sleep well or want to stay?" He shook his head and cut off Mike's inquiries and went to reheat the food.

Mike helped him and they both had a nice meal after a long time. After that they completed their homework and went to the rooftop.

Brian was taking violin classes because of his interests so Mike asked him to play some notes. Both of them emptied some beer cans and went to sleep quite late.

Next day they went to school together as usual and Mike was quite relieved after venting out his frustrations.

"Hey boys, why is God so mean and rude to us?!" Charla joked when seeing Brian and Mike entering together.

The girls squealed and drool over their handsome aura, and physique. Especially when it's a rare sight to see both of the male Gods entering together.

There has been commotion in class 12 grade A because Susan and Miley have been missing as Belle and Salalah were searching for them.

"What's wrong with her? Can't she ask us before even recommending our names?" Belle, who has grudges with Susan, was complaining to Salalah.

"Well, the one who has created the trouble for us is missing and we need to settle scores with her!" Salalah remarked and smirked seeing Miley running in the corridor as she was late.

She nudged Belle to turn around and seeing the site, an evil smirk ran across their faces.

They headed towards Miley's direction and pushed her, not knowing the consequences they would have to face later.

"Aaahhh…" a shriek could be heard in the entire corridor. At that moment everything felt like happening in slow motion.

Mike, who was behind her, ran towards her and caught her in time.

His worries could be seen in his eyes, they have been searching to check if Miley was hurt or not.

His trail of thoughts were disturbed by Miley's wriggling. Losing his grasp he let her go, she steadied herself and smiled at him.

"Umm… thanks Mike, let's go we're getting late for the class."

Saying this, she bent down to gather her papers and assignments which have been scattered all over the floor.

Mike squatted down to help her out and asked if she was okay.

"Yeah, I'm fine, let's meet in the recess, you should go now."

Her face was covered with blonde gray hairs acting as a shield to cover her blushing. Her heart was racing so she hurried to gather everything and stood up.

"Here you go… Miley! I need to talk to you," saying this he handed her the stack of papers and turned to leave.

"Sure, come to the terrace during the recess."

She turned, shook her head with excitement and blushed hard, smiling like a fool. By the time she reached the class Susan was already called by the new Sports teacher.

She asked Jason about the scene but none of them had any clue. Then she thought that he might be calling her to inform about the event.

Susan was standing outside the chamber of Beckham, the new sports administrator. She sighed heavily and knocked on the door.

"Come in Ms. Susan Hills! Are you the one called by Sir?" a peon opened the door and called her in.

"Yes, that's me. May I go in now?" She asked hesitatingly.

The peon stepped aside and she went inside the room behind her the door was closed. Upon entering she greeted him, "Good Morning teacher Mall!"

"Good Morning Ms. Susan!"

As he was going through the files while reverting her greetings.

Susan started admiring him with her gaze fixed on him and a myriad of thoughts ran across her mind. Her heart started pacing fast, she was nervous and fidgeting. It wasn't her usual reaction; she was confused about her own feelings. She started taking some deep breaths to calm her racing emotions.

Her mind was replying constantly, "It's not right Suzy, you can't think like that…"

She was so immersed in her own thoughts that she couldn't hear Beckham's calling.

"Miss Susan, are you okay?" He tapped on the table and said loudly to get her attention.

"Umm. yes sir, I'm sorry!"

"Alright, do you know why I called you early in the morning here?"

He asked her while gazing at her embarrassed pale face. He was drowning in her citric scent but steadied his thoughts. He turned towards the window in order not to face her. The moment was accompanied by an awkward silence but Susan broke the iciness in the room.

"No, I have no idea, but I need to ask you about the event."

She deadpanned to get out of this uncomfortable situation which was getting out of her control. Her embarrassment was already creeping in her head and heart making her anxious.

The long silence was interrupted and he took a deep sigh, finding it hard to converse with her, shook his head, returned to his seat.

Before he could ask her further their meeting was interrupted by the knocking on the door.
