Eleonore’s POV
My mind seemed to have drowned out the rest of the world, and all that I could focus on was the look in the eyes of the fourth. There was a sparkle there that seemed to tell me she knew something, something I couldn’t even begin to imagine.
I opened my mouth to try and speak, to try and push my magic forward in a way I knew it could, to get me to say something– anything, just a single word to try and get her attention. But before I could say anything or even raise my hands to try and signal to the fourth member of the council, the others spoke up instead.
There was a silence at first, and for a moment it seemed like the entire room was watching between me and the fourth, gauging our interaction with a bated breath, before someone’s voice caught up to us.
“Tell us girl,” she sneered, catching my attention completely, “what is it you are here for, exactly? Why have you come?”
