The exile

'It is good to be aware of the future, but nothing is definite. Even though our Brooke Clan is considered a medium-powerful clan, we don't have much information about how powerful the superhumans from other organizations are. In fact, I am only at the 4th level despite my age. So, you can surely imagine how hard and rare it is for superhumans to level up. I don't want to dampen your expectations, but there are certainly more powerful people than you. However, given time, it is a different scenario since you bear a sin, and that may imply possessing the authority of that God-a realm that we don't know if can be achieved by mortals.

Well, this generation is for youngsters like you. There is a lot of unrest in the current times. I am not sure if it's just because of the prophecy or something else. But you don't need to concern yourselves with that for now. The leader of Camo Island did not specifically mention that we don't have a chance to survive the calamity. You all just need to make sure that you will have plenty of strength during that time to protect yourselves.

And it's because of my daughter that you wanted to join the Battle Maidens Sect, right? It's difficult, but you could have a chance. If you truly excel at the academies' joint entrance exam, perhaps the Sect will grant you an exception. But, if everything else fails, the last thing you can do is covertly inform the Sect's head about your sin.', Mr. Brooke seriously stated, then sighed anxiously.

The trio stared at Mr. Brooke for a long time in confusion. Roseheim quickly got the reason and asked further:

'I understand that it might interest the leader when she hears about the sin, but will she really believe him? And we can't trust other people right away. We might be better off joining a different academy altogether. Am I right, dad?'

Mr. Brooke knitted his brows because his plans for his daughter got spoiled because of Cane's unexpected entrance. He naturally knew why her daughter and Cane wanted to be together, and as a member of a clan serving the temple of Temperance, he had this innate fear and reverence towards the bearer of a sin. He can only support his daughter and the enigma that is Cane.

He had tried to consult the patriarch of the clan, but he refrained at the last minute when he thought about the unusuality of Cane's case. There is too much karma now that his daughter laid hands on a bearer of sin who was bizarrely not an avatar. It was also because of Roseheim's persuasion that he was able to accept that fate must have arranged everything up until now.

'Roseheim. I am such a failure as your father. Right now, I can only help you get into any of the schools due to the remaining assets that we have. Now that you agreed to accompany Cane in joining any of the schools, then I will respect that. There are still a few weeks before the joint entrance exam of the four academies, so you have time to prepare.

Don't worry, I'll do everything I can to help the three of you get stronger in the coming weeks. Roseheim would almost certainly pass due to her unique ability, therefore I would concentrate on the two of you, Cane and Kharlile. Finally, I'd like you to keep in mind that the day you met Cane was the day your destiny began to change.'

Mr. Brooke fell silent, which perplexed the group. His eyes were tinged with sadness. 'Roseheim, you are hereby banished and cannot use the name Brooke.' The trio was taken aback when he abruptly declared that Roseheim had been expelled from the Brooke Clan.

'Hey, how can you do that to your own daughter?! What is the reason behind that?!', Cane felt his body being overwhelmed by rage. He knew what it was like to be alone, let alone excommunicated by one's own family.

But he felt a soft touch holding his hand. He looked at Rose and she smiled at him with tears streaming down her face.

'I understand, father. Today, I will be called only Roseheim. I will not be in any way related to the Brooke Clan.'

'Hey. How can you accept it straight away, Doctor Brooke? I don't understand.' Kharlile, who had been silent for some time, cannot help but express his frustration..

'Father. Take care. I will explain to them once you leave.', Rose activated her ability – Extreme Focus, which turned her hair from violet to blue and that made her father sigh in sadness.

'You will always be my pride, my little Roseheim. As for you, Cane, if there comes a time when you can already look down on New Earth from a higher perspective, please let me see my daughter again. Kharlile, you are the hope of the Mang Clan. I don't know why they did not tell you anything about your heritage, but the wise man from your clan must have already known that you would meet Cane. I am not being mysterious here. Just know that you are part of something bigger now that you are connected with a bearer of a sin.', Mr. Brooke got out of his gravity domain and told the them that it would automatically disappear after an hour.

Cane and Kharlile remained stunned by everything that transpired. They did not understand just how an initial plan to get stronger and join an academy turned out to be an exile for a friend from her clan.

'We have one hour to discuss everything. I know that you have questions, so let me explain. The Mang and Brooke Clans decided to disassociate themselves from us because of the karma that Cane brought. While my father was talking, he secretly sent me a transmission that contained the records that put Cane and now us in danger.

According to it, superhumans are hunting god avatars. It is largely for study reasons, but it does contain information about the gods themselves. Avatars are powerful beings, and they are natural elemental powerhouses depending on the God who picked them, but thanks to the virus and humankind's ability to evolve with it, we now have the potential to stand toe to toe with an avatar.

In terms of training, Father, or rather Mr. Brooke, will continue to train us, but only as acquaintances. So, prepare to believe that we are no longer tied to our clans, or else we will cause them issues, and wiping them out might not be impossible if the powerful superhumans seeking people like Cane see a connection.', Rose explained rather emotionlessly.

Cane tightly gripped his fist. He did not expect that things would spiral out this way.

'Rose. I vowed to look after you. Are you and Kharlile willing to bear my surname now that the two of you are no longer members of your own clans? It will be with you as my wife and Kharlile as my younger brother.', Cane asked spontaneously.

Rose only blushed a bit and just nodded in confirmation. She did not have much of a choice now that she was stuck with Cane. But hearing him say that she was his wife made her blue hair sway. She could clearly feel that Cane's existence was growing bigger in her heart.

Kharlile, on the other hand, cried. Cane hurriedly tapped the Foxman's shoulder and comforted him.

'I am sorry that this happened to all of you because of me. But I don't regret meeting the two of you. I know that I am weak as of now, but I promise that I will take you to greater heights. I realized I needed to get stronger faster now that I know about the dangerous undercurrents and situations we are in. Not only for my personal reasons but also for our survival.'

Kharlile gave Cane a determined look. "You're right," he said, wiping his tears away like a small child comforted by his older brother. After everything that happened, it's safe to say that the three of them were on their way to something bigger than they could have imagined.

'It's great that we're finally on the same page. Kharlile, I know it's difficult to understand, but we're exiled in name. You and I both know that our kin still loves us with all of their hearts. Right now, our goal is to obtain more power as a superhuman and have the strength to protect ourselves, so that we may openly claim that we are from our own clans in the future.' Rose said this as she looked at Kharlile and then at Cane, the most intriguing person she had ever encountered, with an optimistic vision.

'Thank you for the two of you. You might want to believe that I changed your lives, but you did so as well with mine. By the way, Kharlile, I am planning to join the Battle Maidens Sect with Rose for a number of reasons. Our chance of us getting in is minute, much less letting you join. May I know what academy you are planning to get into?', Cane did not want to let Kharlile feel that he was being left out.

Damn it! Roseheim is my waifu! Mineeeeeee!
