Chapter 6 Ellor

Ellor lifts his club towards the ball, aiming for about thirty seconds, but getting impatient and just hitting the ball early. The ball goes about five feet past the whole, resulting in Ellor stamping his feet towards the ground in anger.

"You are an overwhelming Willie Park Sr, your majesty," the young Duke of Rankor Hart taunts before clubbing a golf ball perfectly into the hole.

"I bet you think you're a true Prestwick Club member, Alvin," his majesty replies, grabbing a canteen from his caddy. He gulps down three chugs of water before practically pushing it into the young boy.

"You know, we should really be nicer to the help," Alvin says jokingly. Alvin is the snobbiest person you could ever find in Anima. Ellor laughs, going back to his game.

"So, how are things going with that Rose girl?" Alvin asks, moving towards his golf ball with his club. He bats his eyes and musses his hair teasingly at Ellor. When his friend doesn't reply, Alvin continues to prattle, "You know I heard Marrianne has come back from Europe," he says, instigating his friend into conversation.

"What?" Ellor asks, almost dropping his club. His eyes are crazed with shock, which is only enhanced by the color of his irises.

"I heard she was engaged to some French Earl, or maybe he's German, I'm not sure." Alvin says, smiling to himself as he heard panicked breaths from his friend.

"Where on earth did you hear of this?"

"Oh the Cronies were supposed to stay at Corundum house, but father's illness and the hypochondriac creature that is my mother prevented their stay."

"Oh," Ellor replies, shaking his head going back to golfing.

"Would you want to see her, Ellor?" Alvin asks, he almost sounds sincere. His eyes are blue pools and he always looks like he's been crying, something he knows very well. He stands shorter than Ellor by a few inches, and has dark brown hair like his friend. They'd been formally met in college, but had known each other for much longer than that, from coart gatherings and such.

"No, of course not. We only knew each other for a brief period of time, and that 'knowing' was miniscule." Ellor lies, straightening his suit.

"Didn't your father like her?"Alvin asks.

"I-I don't really know, when she and I were, for lack of a better term, friends, my father was..distant to say the least," his majesty replies, handing his golf club back to the caddy. Alvin grumbles and hands his golf club to the caddy as well.

They sit in relative silence for the carriage ride back to the palace, before a bump in the road and neighing makes the two friends shudder in fear.

"What's going on up there?" Alvin asks, standing up and looking out the window to the coachman. Ellor doesn't say anything, and just sits, staring in silence. "If any of us get hurt, I assure you, his majesty will have it on your head." Alvin continues berating the coachman, who doesn't respond.

"All of your help are eediots, your majesty," Alvin says when he gets back into the car.

"What happened?" Ellor asks in reply.

"He rammed the horses into a wall and one of them broke his leg." Alvin replies, crossing his arms.

"How long are we going to have to wait?"

"How would I know? Ask the coachman, I'm sure he'll lie, he's got pointed ears."
