The next morning, Riya woke to an atmosphere heavy with unease. Sensing the tension, she took a deep breath and addressed her parents at the breakfast table.
"Mom, if you're worried that I'll leave after finding out about my biological parents, you can put that thought out of your minds," she asserted. "For me, you will always be my family, and that will never change. We can tell them that we don't want to go to Korea, and they can go back."
Mrs. Sharma's weary voice broke the silence. "They are your biological parents, Riya. And legally, until you become an adult, they have the right to take you back."
Seeing the exhaustion etched on her parents' faces, Riya clenched her fists in frustration. Feeling helpless, she made the decision to meet with Mr. and Mrs. Kim.
