Unexpected friendship

The creature was silently looking at Ilirielth. She didn't even know if it could see her or not because it didn't seem to have any eyes. Her mind was plunged into confusion. She felt nothing, nothing from this creature. After all those years of fighting, she would immediately know the strength of her opponent. She didn't need the system to judge that. There was no lack of people who hid their statuses using some special skills and spells but even if they can hide their status and mana they usually can't hide their presence. There was always some aura emitted from the strong but this one standing in front of her…

She tried to read its info using the system but nothing came out, just a blank page. It had no race and no name which was unusual. There were only two cases with no name. Either the person had forgotten their name or monsters. In the case of monsters, there should be information about the race. Ilirielth couldn't blink her eyes. She felt like everything would be over if she did that. She just stood there looking back at the creature silently. It didn't scare her as the previous one but she knew she should be more afraid, this thing was tricking her with its presence.

It was only a few minutes but to Ilirielth it was as long as an hour. Her heart was beating so fast that it could jump out of her chest. The creature began to walk toward her. The way it walked looked a bit clumsy, the leg went first then came the tentacles dragging its body but the leg moved a little too fast and it didn't at the same pace as the tentacle. Sometimes it looked like it would fall to the ground.

The creature's face approached hers while its hands touch her face. The thing that Ilirielth didn't expect was a voice coming out of its mouth.

" Areyouhrt?"

It took her a moment to realize it was talking to her. She thought it was just how this thing sounded at first but then it began to sound like a language.

" IAskdAryouhurt?"

" Sorry I couldn't understand what are you saying."

" IsaiARYOUHURTT!"

It shouted angrily. The voice of it made all of her hair stand up. Although she didn't get what the hell it was trying to say she began to nod violently. In an instant the tentacles wrapped around her body, she could feel them crawling everywhere. She couldn't contain herself to let out a few sounds because of the tickle. After 2 sec it stopped and the spikes on its face protruded.

" LEIER!! Nowund! LIERRRGODDAMLIEERRR!"

Her whole body was lifted off the ground by the tentacle. Its grip didn't seem that strong but Ilirielth couldn't move at all. Her body froze like a statue. Now she could feel it. Never in her life did she feel such a terrifying killing intent. If it was to describe what she felt at this moment, it was similar to a person witnessing the whole world around them exploded.

She had no idea what was the cause its anger but she knew that if she didn't do anything this would be her last moment. So she used all of her strength to let out some incoherent words with her trembling mouth. (Now her dictionary has it)

" S.. Im soori."

The grip suddenly got stronger. When she thought she was done for, it dropped her to the ground turn back, slowly limping away. Ilirielth just sat there speechless. She didn't know what just happened. Looking at the creature slowly disappearing into the darkness, Ilirielth made a decision that made her even question her sanity. She stood up and chased after it.

She walked behind it keeping the distance about 2 meters. Of course, this distance was absolutely useless but she just couldn't walk any closer to it.

" Donfollwme."

Ilirielth was a bit startled, but it made sense if this creature could sense her presence. She immediately jump back a little but then kept following the creature. An hour passed. Although the creature let out some complaints, it finally gave in to Ilirielth's stubbornness. After a while, a familiar sound entered her ears.

" No way… please tell me this is not a dream!"

It was the sound of water. There was a lake ahead. How could a half-elf like her could not hear of it when it was this close. In a moment of unthinking she sprint to the lake screaming " Hooray!", only when her feet touched the water she realized she had just run past the terrifying creature. Looking back worryingly she saw the creature was just chilling, walking toward the lake. It sat down beside her and use its hands to get some water.

Ilirielth took a careful look at the creature. Despise its look its behavior was kind of like… a normal human. It didn't attack her and didn't seem to mind her. This broke some images in her mind about the cursed creatures of Mordox.

' I wonder if there's any other like this one. Except for those ugly goats.'

The creature looked like it could feel her interested gaze. Turning its head back to her it said something again.

" Whatsyourname?"

" Ilirielth."

She could understand what it tried to say after she calm down. Interestingly it was speaking her national language. A creature from a place like this…

" What should I called you? God? O great one?"

Ilirielth let out a bright smile asking the creature. Normally there was no way she would talk like this with a monster but after 2 months of living here alone, her mental state was kinda messed up.

" Idonknow."

" Could you speak more slowly please I couldn't hear anything!"

" Idontknow."

" Too fast."

" I.dontknow."

" Still too fast."

" I.dont.know."

" It's much better but could you try a bit more."

" I don't know."

" There. I can understand you now! Congrats!"

She jump into the creature and held its arm while smiling. The creature looked at her dumbfounded and then it let out a snort as if it was annoyed, though it didn't push her out. Just like that the conversation between them continued.

" I don't rememberanything. WhenI woke up, I wasin this place. Whatabout you?"

" I don't know either. I meant I still remember who am I but I have no idea how I get here. It seemed that our situations are similar."

" You're not scareofme?"

" That was a weird question for a mon— I mean I was afraid of you but not anymore. Are you going to eat me?"

" No…"

" Then that's fine. You and I, we could become friends. Iliriendil (In elfdict name end with dil represent friendship correct me if I'm wrong)."

" Who is Iliriendil?"

" You since you don't have a name I made one for you. You hate that one? I could make another."

" No need. Callmewhatever you want."

Iliriendil tentacle came out to cover his face. This made Ilirielth giggled, she thought this terrible being was a little bit cute.
