Phoenix Trial (Part 1)

Ten Thousand Beast Mountain Range, Blue Wind Empire, Profound Sky Continent

This was a mountainous region, innumerable hills that weren't too tall, spread throughout the entire field of vision. Even though the area was gushing with greenery, it emitted a kind of extremely desolate air.

Usually, many terrifying roars of the profound beasts should be heard here, but that was not the case anymore. Ikuya had annihilated the entire population of profound beasts in the Ten Thousand Beast Mountain Range, leading the mountain range to become a strangely quite place.

Before Ikuya, a short hill, a small village appeared before his eyes. A few middle-aged adults dressed in rough clothing stood in the front of the village with wary expressions as they observed Ikuya.

This small village was the home of the 'cursed' Phoenix clan. The people, all had dark red flame mark on their forehead.

The Phoenix clan members were startled to see Ikuya. It's not very often that an outsider arrives in front of their small village.

Before, there were many violent profound beasts in the area, but for some reason, these profound beasts never approached the place where they resided. However, because of those concentrated number of scary profound beasts, they had never been able to leave. That was also the same reason why outsiders had never entered.

But now, it was no longer the case.

Ikuya had wiped out the profound beast population, and the circumstances were completely different now.

Ikuya glanced at this people once and then teleported away as he felt disinclined to talk with them and listen to their useless superstitions and their totally useless history.

After teleporting away, Ikuya moved swiftly through the mountain range.

After stepping into the rear mountain region, he was faced with cliffs so tall that their summits could not be seen. A huge sigil measuring several meters was embedded in the mountain wall in front of him. A beautiful red colour emerged from the entire sigil, glowing bright and dark at times, as a pattern of numerous scarlet flames that fiercely burned, lay at the center of the sigil.

" The seal of the Phoenix Legacy, huh?" Ikuya raised his head as he looked at the strange red sigil.

Ikuya stood in front of the red sigil, then observed sealed space.

" Although not a spatial lock, it doesn't seem much different from one. But, there has to be an opening." Ikuya muttered as he placed his hand on the sigil.

But the moment he did that, a burst of scarlet flame erupted from the red sigil. But, Ikuya showed no reaction other than a slight smile to this new development.

" Hrmm.... Phoenix flames, huh? It will be perfect for the creation of my new Pyro Core." Ikuya muttered.

Pyro Core. Even if Pyrokinesis is a psychic/psionic power, a psychic still requires a fire source to produce fire and mental energy is only a source of energy that he/she expends to utilize the fire power.

Natural born fire-based psychics already possess a fire core/Pyro core and the Pyro core will enhance by time and the mental energy level of the psychics.

It is the same for the other element-based psychic powers such as Cryokinesis, Hydrokinesis, Electrokinesis, etc., They all have certain elemental cores within the psychics. That is why a psychic cannot have two or more element-based psychic powers. There are only very rare occurrences where a psychic has two element-based powers.

But Ikuya is not a natural born psychic. The psychic powers he has is something he had given to himself by manipulating his own genetic coding and replicating the genetic coding of the other psychics he had met in his previous life.

Ikuya's psychic powers follow his own rules as he is the creator of them. That is why he can create his own elemental cores and decide the might of his psionic abilities.

" This fire.... The properties of this fire is so great that even the fire of 'Heaven's Flame' I had encountered in the past doesn't compare to this fire's properties. This level of purification property..... I guess, the Immortal Phoenix of the myth lives up to its name." Ikuya muttered with a faint smile.

" But.... This level of fire is unable to harm me." Ikuya smiled as the scarlet flames erupted from the red sigil were sucked into his hand.

' I had mastered the use of Pyrokinesis to a very high level, high enough to generate flames powerful enough to burn away time itself in my past life. Even though I don't have the mental energy to execute the same feats now, I still possess all my knowledge. I don't need the Evil God's seeds to gain immunity towards elements. With my powers, I can easily turn any flame into raw flame and absorb it to enhance my own flame powers.'

' Phoenix flames, Vermilion bird flames and Golden Crow flames.... I'll create the ultimate flame source after assimilating these three divine flames into my Pyro core.' Ikuya thought in his mind as a red dot had formed within his realm of consciousness, burning brightly as clusters of scarlet flames were absorbed by the red dot as it was slowly increasing in size.

Ikuya believed that mental energy has far more potential than even Ki itself. But not everyone can know of the methods or abilities to use mental energy.

As Ikuya kept on absorbing the scarlet flames from the red sigil, the red shine of the sigil was starting to dim.

Suddenly, Ikuya's vision went blank as he felt a spatial power engulf him as he was teleported to a different place.

When he came to, Ikuya only saw a pitch black darkness.

Ikuya was calm without a disturbance in his expression.

Suddenly, two lines of narrow golden light suddenly appeared in the pitch black darkness before him. Immediately after, a pair of golden eyes appeared. A pair of incomparably gigantic golden eyes that was embedded inside the pitch black space.

Ikuya slightly smiled when he saw this and of course knew what these giant eyes were.

These were the eyes of the Phoenix!

" Greetings, human. Welcome to the trial grounds. You are the first challenger without the phoenix bloodline in these past thousand years."
