004: Flipped on its head IV

*SIGH*

"How much longer do we have to walk for?"

I asked while dripping in sweat from head to toe.

"What's wrong? We've barely walked anywhere."

Zephyros replied.

"Yeah, well, maybe if you took the bag I wouldn't be complaining."

"Sorry bro, but I don't want to break my back."

"Talk about a pathetic athlete, you seem to always be worried about injuries."

"You wanna go, punk?"

He said while cracking his knuckles.

I could feel the murderous intent in his body language.

"BRING IT ON GLASS ATHLETE!"

"BOTH OF YOU SHUT IT!"

My mom screamed at us.

We stopped fighting with one another immediately.

Why?

Because my mom is a monster.

When she's angry, not even the devil can escape her wrath.

If she screams at you, your best case scenario is running and hiding.

"Good, now let us continue our walk, right guys?"

She asked Dad and Medusa.

Dad was spacing out and not paying attention, and Medusa kept standing in her silent, gloomy fashion.

You could feel the excitement wafting through the air.

*sigh*

Why are we doing this again?

Mom led the charge forward once again.

When Zephyros passed by me, he flashed his middle finger.

I rolled my eyes and carried onwards.

"Mom, how long until we get there?"

I grumbled.

"We've already been walking for an hour."

"This is the fun part about the trip, the walk to the destination."

She replied.

"Yeah, maybe for someone not carrying the heavy bags."

She ignored me.

*CLAP*

"I KNOW,"

She began

"Let's tell stories to pass the time."

"What kind of stories?"

Zephyros asked.

"Any kind of story you want."

"Okay then, what about that time Yuhven failed a take home test."

"Oh really, you're going there?"

I asked him.

He flashed a confident smirk and nodded.

"Ok then, what about the time Zephyros got stung in the neck by a wasp during his debut on his middle school soccer team?"

"Oh yeah? Well what about the time you tried to do a magic trick for the school talent show and failed the trick?"

"OK NOW THIS IS PERSONAL!"

"YOU'RE DAMN RIGHT IT IS!"

"Can both of you calm down please?"

My mom asked.

"Let them get it out of their system, so that they'll be tired later."

My dad said as he snapped back to reality.

"What a hassle."

Medusa added.

"WHAT ABOUT THE TIME ZEPHYROS FELL INTO A PARTIALLY FROZEN POND, AND THE INCLINE WAS SO STEEP THAT MY FRIENDS AND I HAD TO MAKE A HUMAN CHAIN TO PULL HIM OUT!"

"Okay calm down now you two."

My mom tried to interrupt.

"WHAT ABOUT THE TIME YOU ALMOST FELL OUT OF THE WINDOW AS A BABY!"

"OK I'VE HAD IT! SHUT THE FUCK UP!"

Noticing our mistake, we bowed down in apology.

"We're sorry mom."

We said in unison.

"GOOD! NOW LET US CONTINUE BECAUSE WE ARE ALMOST THERE!"

She screamed as she began to walk once again.

*chuckle*

"At least I don't have any embarrassing stories like that."

Medusa said to us.

"Oh really?"

Zephyros remarked.

"What about the time you tried to help the company with a project and failed miserably?"

"Oh come on? It was my first time doing any work for the company, and I was only five years old."

"Oh well sorry genius."

Zephyros said.

"Guess you're not so special after all."

I added.

She walked away silently, and Zephyros and I gave each other a high five and started laughing.

We started walking again, and yet again, I struggled to walk under the weight of the baggage.

Although that entire argument had almost no point to it, there is one thing that has got me thinking.

The story of me almost falling out of the window as a baby is a very strange story.

It was the day I was born.

My mom was resting after going through the rigorous ordeal of giving birth, and I was laying down in a small crib next to her.

Many studies say that people don't remember things from their infancy, but I remember this day clearly.

Before I fell asleep, I looked out at the night sky, and saw the most beautiful array of colors I have ever seen.

It was a mix of blue and red swirls with white stars and the occasional planet or galaxy that took on a black/purple color.

It was absolutely stunning.

I just felt like I had to reach out to it.

My small body found a way to climb out of the small crib I was in and make my way over to the window.

I reached my hand out the window, and my body almost followed it.

Luckily for me, a nearby doctor saw me and caught me before I fell.

I owe him my life.

If he had not been there, then I would not be alive today.

Ever since that day, I've always had this burning desire to help people in any way shape or form.

I just wanted to be like that doctor.

I wanted to be the reason someone else would get to live on, because of that, I would always hop into dangerous situations without looking backwards if someone requested assistance.

"Alright everyone,"

My mom called out.

She interrupted my train of thought.

"We've made it."

FINALLY!

THANK YOU, GOD, I CAN FINALLY SET THIS HEAVY ASS BAG DOWN!
