Chapter Fifteen

The doors opened to reveal a massive room. It's not even a room now. It can be considered a small town with many small builds that either have two doors or one door. On the door two digits were painted. The nearest was "01". I guess these builds will be the mini house or bay that we'll be living in at the moment. But seriously, just wow. A whole town underneath the surface. We proceeded down a few small steps and admired the place some more. White tiles covered the whole floor. Walls painted in blue stretched up to the ceiling and at the centre, an enormous circle light illuminated the entire underground town. There were also lights from the builds and lampposts.

'Wow' dad gasped. I retweeted that to myself.

Everywhere, happy people walked about the isles and small shops that sell food and other stuffs. They were all wearing the same thing, like a jumpsuit of light blue in colour. This place sure values the colour of blue. To the left of the town, a small playground rests. Children also in small jumpsuits ran happily around it. I looked at Zayne who was already intrigued.

'Alright, let's find our bay' dad said.

A woman in a dark blue jumpsuit approached us. She has a name tag "Olivia Jones".

'Welcome to Warhem Underbuild' she said with a very bright smile on her. I can't help but smile as well. 'I'm Olivia Jones and I'll be assisting you for whatever you need me now'

'Thank you very much Olivia. Can you help bring us to our bay? It's bay fifteen' dad said. He showed her the card.

'Of course! Follow me!' she replied cheerfully. I like this place already. And Olivia is just too kind and cheery. I'm looking forward to life here. But, wasn't I a wanted person? That thought pulled me back to reality again. But no one is paying attention to me. I saw a number of people looking at me. I could tell they recognise me. Definitely from the wanted list. But they don't seem to bother. Most of them even smiled at me. I guess I'm free here after all. No one chasing me or haunting me down.

Olivia was very helpful. She explained to us what we need to know about the underbuild as she guided us to our bay. Like they have a rule such as lights out after twenty-one hours. But we were not to worry. No rule-breaking is punishable by death. Everyone is needed to wear the jumpsuits at all time whenever we are in the underbuild, because it's for our safety. The jumpsuits are ready for us in our bay. Each bay has been prepared plenty of jumpsuits with all sizes. Aside from that, we can live peacefully and go wherever we want in the underbuild. No one is allowed to go outside the base without permission. She said that we're allowed to rest as long as we want but me and Zayne have to register for school the minute we're healthy. There's only one school in this underbuild and it's located near the playground we saw earlier.

'Has Mr Sky and Mr Pierce arrived?' dad asked.

'Only the Pierce family has arrived' Olivia replied attentively. Her grace is just admirable. 'We have not heard from the Skys yet'

Oh no, I thought about Norman. He and his family must be in grave danger.

'I know you're all great friends but at the moment, we can't put you on the field yet. In fact, we can't put anyone yet. Chief's orders. I hope you rest well Mr Adams and your family'

And that moment, we arrived in front of bay fifteen.

'I'll be going off now. It's nice speaking with you' she said, smiling kindly.

'Thank you for the hospitality' dad said.

'My pleasure' she replied and walked away.

Dad scanned the card on the reader and the plastic door slid open inside the grey-stoned wall. We walked in. A fresh scent of air freshener filled the room. Clean towels and pillows were arranged on one sofa. Clean sheets were already put on the two queen-sized beds. There's a small cozy living room with two sofas and a television. A mini kitchen just beside it with a stove, a counter and a small refrigerator below it. A very clean bathroom just beside the kitchen and another door inside led to the bedroom. The bedroom is connected to the living room. Inside the bedroom there's a closet room filled with clean light-blue jumpsuits. The whole house was decorated in blue white and black. I think we spent almost a half hour just checking things out. Everything was so neat and clean. There wasn't any door between the living room and the bedroom. It's like a hotel.

'This is nice!' Zayne exclaimed. He was so happy.

'Yes it is sweetheart' mom replied. She kissed him on the forehead.

'Are we gonna live here?'

'Yes dear, this is our new house' dad answered him. He picked Zayne up and carried him around. He even left the bathroom doors open so that he could run around in circles with Zayne. I'm just so happy and relieved to be saying anything. I jumped on one of the beds and stared at the beautiful ceiling lights. I can't believe I'm free now. Nothing will last long but at least, I can enjoy freedom and peace for the time being.

Mom came and sat beside me. I looked at her smiling. I smiled back.

'How are you feeling Zac?' she asked.

'Good. Tired but good'

She looked at me deeply. Like she was reading me. I thought I answered her sincerely. I really am tired. I may feel a little insecure. Because the government could find us anytime. And there's the matter of Norman I'm still worried about. But aside from that, I'm honestly good.

'You need a lot of rest. I want you to wash up and sleep okay?' she said. I nodded. She smiled and walked away to the kitchen. She's right. I'm still cold and if I don't do anything about it I'm gonna have a fever. And I need sleep.
