"Derk?!"
Alaric's eyes went wide. Although Derk wasn't exactly important to his future, nor to his town's future, he was the only person left that he had bonded with before Forger Village's fall. A rather sentimental connection, because Derk was proof.
'Proof that Forger Village existed.'
Along with Boss Beard and the other village chiefs, Derk was another way for Forger Village's legacy to be passed down. The history books would have several accounts and not just his own.
"Aye, it's me. 'N old friend called me over, so here 'am. I thought Forger Village was here before... anythin' to do with you, lad?" Derk asked.
Alaric chuckled, suppressing his obvious surprise. The only emotions he should show on his face were "harmony" and "tyranny." It was a gut feeling, backed by nothing but his experiences as a leader thus far.
"Well, seeing as you're in my office, that would be the correct assumption, Derk."
