I approached the tall, rusty door, but it was locked. I could just break the lock but 'Shit, I can't break it. If I do, it will only make matters worse for the world that's already on the brink of uproar.'
They're assuming that Veldora is out but poor them, they're worrying about the wrong threat.
'I'll have to wait for the three troublesome elves to open the door', I thought as I transformed into my bat form. In the meantime, I'll hang from the ceiling.
...
Hanging upside down, I decided to take a quick nap to pass the time, only to be abruptly awakened when I was sound asleep.
The door was being opened, with a high-pitched and metallic screech.
As the cave was illuminated by the light, which pained my eyes accustomed to darkness, three figures emerged.
The three elves disguised as humans, one girl and her two bodyguards.
"It finally opened, huh. Lock fell apart and the doors rusted..."
"Hey, that's only to be expected. Don't they say that no one entered here in 300 years ?"
"Not on record, at least. But more importantly, are we really going to be fine ? We won't be .." said the girl before being interrupted by pain.
"Aaaah, my leg! Something bit me!" she screamed and fell butt first on the ground.
"It's a bat, it's flying away! And.. it escaped." the short-haired man said.
Approaching the girl, the 'leader' reached out his hand to help her up.
"Are you ok, Ellen? Can you continue the expedition ?" he asked.
"Guys are you sure you want to continue? Isn't it too dangerous ?" she pleaded.
"Don't worry we will use a concelment technique, come closer you two"
"Alright, let's go~"
...
'There they are. I didn't have to wait long. Rimuru should be here too, but I don't sense him. Is it my fault? Am I the cause of a butterfly effect?' Mamoru wondered.
His presence in this world would bring about many changes and the first one was making the meeting between Rimuru and Veldora slightly longer.
This outcome was the result of Mamoru's involvement.
Slowly crawling on the ceiling toward the exit, he caught one last glimpse of his liberators when an idea struck him.
Releasing his grip on the ceiling, he flew towards the leg of one of the elves. Biting it, he swiftly flew away as fast as he could.
He couldn't flight straight because he was intoxicate by the aroma of the elf's blood.
"Mmm, this tastes really good!"
As soon as he stepped out of the gate he turned to his humanoid form. Putting a hand in front of his eyes to protect him from the blinding sunlight.
'Beautiful' he thought, as a nature lover the sight is simply amazing. In a world untainted by polution, the air was pure and filled with magicules.
With the peaceful vibe, one could easily forget that this forest was infested by monsters. However, he had no problem with that? He was one of them afterall.
Looking at his surrending his eyes met with a pair of wolf.
"Hello there!" he said with a smile.
But they immediately turned tail and ran.
"Nooo doggos don't run away.." He let out a sorrowful shout. They successfully evaded any pursuit.
He gritted his teeth. My aura! What a beginner's mistake! Till we meet again, he thought.
The goblins got more balls than them, right?
And so he resumed walking, admiring the view along the way.
Not forgetting to practice ice spear shooting to get a hang of it, one of the elemental magics copied from the elf.
*rustle rustle*
A group of wild goblins appeared!
He unconsciously placed his hands on his butt, protecting his rear entrance, but soon relaxed as they don't do such things around here.
Not that 30 little goblins could do anything against him.
By taking a closer look at them, frail looking and crumbling weapon, Mamuro couldn't help but wonder how they had managed to survive in this forest for such a long time.
Right, Veldora..
That put a smile on his face, "hello there!" he said.
"O strong one.." started to say one of the goblin.
"No you can't eat me!" he said releasing a bit more of his aura.
Do goblins eat vampires or even humans ? You can never be too cautious.
The truth is, when the goblins first encountered Rimuru, they wanted to eat him. But that's just a detail.
The goblins fell to their knees while some fled.
It had to be done, as their impulsive attacks could have dire consequences.
"O strong one! we dare not! On this path stand our village. We felt strong monster, so came as precaution."
He had no idea that the goblin's village was the direction he was taking.
Without a map, he aimlessly wandered, but lady luck was on his side.
"I was simply lost, and I apologize for scaring you. I didn't mean to," Mamoru said as he retracted his demonic aura.
"So that's how it is. That really helped, that demonic aura was terrifying. Would you like to visit our village and take a rest? We don't have much, but we'll make you feel welcome." said the leader of the group of goblins.
Mamoru had a big smile as he followed the goblins to their village.
However, this smile slowly faded away as the village came into sight.
It appeared dilapidated, with questionable hygiene, and inhabited by extremely thin and small goblins. It was not a situation one would wish upon any living beings.
He knew it beforehand, but witnessing it with his own eyes was a different experience.
The goblins showed him a tent where he sat cross-legged waiting for the village elder.
