An Unexpected Conversation

Kades POV

I sighed frustrated, Amelia is acting crazy right now, she is screeching and yelling about how we never get to spend any more time together, seems as I have spent weeks trying to secure a business deal that would help us all out and on top of that, I had to host a dinner party tonight. I ran a shaky hand through my short hair and breathed out and relaxed my muscles.

Amelia fixed her bright green eyes on me and narrowed her eyes, I threw my hands up exasperated, "Alright fine! We can go to dinner just the two of us tomorrow. You'll have me all to yourself." I sighed and put my head in my hands.

Amelia giggles and I feel her hands running up and down my legs, warmth spread from her fingertips and made me breathless.

"Good, because I miss you a lot." Her voice wasn't whiny, which is why I loved her so much, Amelia wasn't anything like her looks. She looks like a stuck-up snobby model, but she has raging emotions that would put the most selfless woman to shame.

Amelia although should have whined, didn't and held a demand in it that mostly turned meon and put a warmth in my heart, I never knew existed.

"I miss you too, I know we don't get to see each other too often." I said, feeling a wave of sadness come over me as I stare at the small beauty in my arms, so captivating, so lovely and flawless.

She stares in my eyes so intensely I almost had to look away, her eyes held me so captive I have never felt for anybody what Amelia has made me feel. We are high school sweethearts and we have been together through even the toughest of times.

I never moved from Cherrysville, and on account of graduating from high school, I inherited my grandfather's company, my father died when I was sixteen so until I became of age, my grandfather took control of the company. Amelia and I ended up getting engaged years ago. Although we haven't made it official yet, I feel as if she is already my wife. I have made it clear to everyone working in my company that they are to treat her as co-owner. Which she is. What is mine is also hers.

I held in my laugh as Amelia fumbles in her stance and falls slightly to the left, Amelia is flung and she smacks her palms on my desk to steady herself.

My cheeks puff and air sizzles out of my nose, as her head shoots up and she glares at me, "Is there something wrong Kade?" She huffed and placed her hands on her hips.

With my eyes gleaming, I close the distance between us, "Nothing is wrong. Everything is perfect." I lean down and pull her close by her hips, and kiss her softly.

I then turn on my heel and walk out the office door, being sure to close it after I leave. I knew she would be in there for quite a while, probably taking a nap on the small couch in the far corner of my office.

I huff and walk from floor to floor to make sure everything is going alright, and also to chat with my employees. I'm not the type of boss or CEO to just sit back and let my employees do all the work, or never ask about them. I try to get to know each and every worker in here and spend a little bit of time whenever I'm in the building with everybody on each floor.

It took me a few hours to get back up to the top floor and into my office, and once I got there I expected to see Amelia curled up in my office chair or on the couch, but she wasn't in either place.

I went back out the door, and down the elevator down to the front desk, "Hey ms. F, did Amelia leave or will she be back at all?" I asked the elderly front desk assistant and she looked up at me a smile overtook her face.

"Why hello sir! Yes, she actually left about say twenty minutes ago, saying she was going to get a jump on preparing tonight's dinner party." She says and pushes up her spectacles on her nose.

I smiled back and nodded curtly, "Thank you very much ms. F, as I have seemed to have forgotten I am supposed to be hosting a dinner party. I gotta run to the house quickly." I smiled once more in her direction before speeding outside to my beautiful red mustang.

Don't hate on my choice of cars! I wanted one ever since I got a mini one of hot wheels, I love my baby so much.

I sped home but was aware of my speed, going a couple over, so that way I could reach home in time to help Amelia finish cooking and preparing. I have lived in my house, ever since I was born, my parents dated and eventually got this house, and then my father died a few years ago, my mom has taken her retiring money to travel the world and have a massive vacation.

I turned on my street and pulled up to the semi-big house I've lived my whole life, and saw through the kitchen window Amelia going at it in the kitchen, I smiled feeling the familiar swell of warmth from watching her, and I eventually got up and out of the car.

I glanced down at my watch and I realized I had twenty minutes before people started showing up, it was an annual dinner party, we do every year every member in my building, to keep things alive and interacting, but this year was my turn to host it, and already I'm fucking it up.

I rushed inside, "I"m sorry babe! It took forever to do my rounds this time, I hope everything is going oka-" I didn't get to finish my sentence and I was halfway to rolling up both of my sleeves so I could help, but Amelias face stops me short.

"Kade Bennet! You took so long! I burned the casseroles, I burned the goddamn chicken as well, you were supposed to be here an hour ago!" Amelia screeches and I wince shaking my head slowly.

"I know, I'm sorry Amelia." I sighed and made my voice come out apologetic.

I'm not normally a really dirty man, but goddamn it has been a while since we've done anything, we've both been focused on work, and on top of that she is taking her virtual college classes, but she lighted a sexual fire in me and its burning so bad now.

Amelia shook her head, "You apologized to me earlier, but this time it's going to take more than that Kade. You left me alone to deal with this and-" She went to go say but I cut her off by standing in front of her and sweeping down to place my lips against hers.

She went to let out a gasp as I stepped closer, but I leaned in too quickly and was able to seal my lips to hers before she could utter a word. She latched herself onto me, throwing her arms around my neck and mine around her waist.

She breathes heavily and my heart beats triple its normal rhythm. We stay there, making out for a few minutes and I groan upon hearing a knock on the front door.

I pull away and groan gruffly, "Here we go to planning a whole dinner party ourselves." I mock raise a glass of wine and toast.

I chuckle but laugh harder when I hear Amelia snort and slap my arm, "Go before they knock over the door." She pushes me lightly.

I chuckle again but lose my smile as I open the door and greet the incoming waves of guests.

I have to hurriedly run around the kitchen, get the food out on the table surprisingly the chicken even though charred on the outside looked pretty juicy and tasty on the inside, I also had to make it look presentable as the dishes were strewn in the sink, all dirty.

People from work and occasion friends started piling in, and Amelia greeted each and every person with big smiles taking over the job or door greeter as I bustled around the kitchen.

A lot more people showed up than I expected would. I went into the living room and put on band music, as I had no idea what kind of music I was supposed to play, nobody told me. They just said I had to come up with everything myself.

I was busy talking to one of my employees when I felt my phone vibrate, and my eyes immediately find Amelia's, I furrow my brows and she just shrugs her shoulders. It wasn't her who contacted me, she would have signaled me to answer it if it was her.

I held up my phone and the name I saw had me almost dropping the beer I had in my other hand and I almost let out a gasp, completely thrown off to see a text from the one person I haven't talked to in close to a decade.

From: Old Best-friend-

Kade?

My heart seemed to jump right out of my chest, and my hands started to sweat as I couldn't hold onto the phone any longer, I gulped and eventually worked up the courage to type an answer-back.

To: Old Bestfriend-

Skye?

I put my phone away and smiled up at one of my guests who seemed to be leaving, but I couldn't get the nagging feeling off my brain: Why did she contact me? After years and years of silence, and now?

As the night progressed I felt a vibration in my pocket and realized it was my phone, I took it out of my pocket and looked at who had texted me.

From: Old Best friend-

How are you?

To: Old Best Friend-

I'm hosting a dinner party right now

I heard laughter and my head shoots up to see Amelia toss her head back and her lips open to reveal stunning pearly white teeth and bubbly laughter comes tumbling out of her.

I put my phone away and was about to lock eyes and smile at someone across the table when I felt my phone vibrate with an answer again.

From Old Bestfriend-

Ooh, isn't that fancy?

I let out a small chuckle and felt my cheeks lifting up into a genuine smile. I clicked on Skylars name and typed in her actual name.

To Skylar-

You haven't changed one bit :)

From Skylar-

What do you mean?

I went to go type my answer but I got interrupted by a clanking fork against a plate, it startled me as I was almost in a trance and had just about dropped my phone on the floor when the sudden noise ran out.

To Skylar-

You were always a smartass

I smile and put my phone down only to be met with another vibration.

From Skylar-

Am not!

I smile and let out a shocked laugh and I bit my bottom lip, enjoying the playful banter we had going on, it was just like old times.

To Skylar-

Exactly what I mean. I gotta go Skye, but we can talk later.

I didn't hear another word back but I tried not to think anything of it as I slowly little by little as I drank more bottles of beer.

Eventually, it all became foggy, and I guess once it hit eleven o'clock Amelia thought it was time for everyone to leave, and many objected but then I drunkenly told people my queen and master has spoken, so the rest had left and before long Amelia plopped on the couch beside me.

She went to go and stand up and slide so she was sitting on top of me, but she was so tired she just collapsed half on me, and I was so exhausted by entertaining people along being drunk off my ass, I grabbed ahold of Amelia and pulled her close.

She smiled and buried her face in my chest, and it was only a few moments before her whole weight sank on me and her breathing became deeper, "I love you babydoll." I whispered out before kissing her softly on the temple and listened to her breathing before being lolled into a deep sleep.
