The Scion's Jack of all Trades Wife

They first met on a train. She just came out from retirement of being a hermit while he was traveling incognito. He was reading a book when she interrupted his concentration. “Do you want to know how fast I read?” The man looked up, his charcoal eyes peered at her, an eyebrow was raised. How shameless can she be? But whatever, she needed to read that book. “I can finish it in thirty minutes.” “So do I. If you stop talking to me,” the man once again buried his head on the book. “I can give you a very detailed book review?” The man continued reading, treating her like an air. She pursed her lips, thinking how she can convince the man. “Giving up so soon? I thought you want to read this book?” The man threw her a glance, raising the book in front of her face, tempting her. “Okay. What do you want?” She braced herself for his outrageous answer. “Oh, it’s nothing. I’m sure you can give it to me.” She squared her shoulders, indicating him to proceed with his request. “Just a kiss,” the man said, his charcoal eyes became darker. She almost fell from her seat when she heard the man’s request. She looked at the man’s lips unconsciously then back to the book. For the first time in history, Li Nuxie wanted both. ================= This is an original story. I just changed the cover which is from Canva. I hope you like it. :) Thanks. Annual Scion Gathering (1)

After washing her body, Li Nuxie went out of the bathroom. Wrapped in a new white towel, she glanced at the black paper bag on the bed.

With a line on her forehead, she walked towards the bed. Glancing inside the paper bag, she surmised that it was a black gown. She pulled it out and laid it down on the bed. The gown caught her breath away. It was an A-line design, with the lower portion that looked liked petals.

The hem of the gown was embroidered with gold thread, an intricate swirling pattern spread across until the mid-portion of the ball gown.

The upper portion of the ball gown was also embroidered with gold thread. However, it was embedded with small ruby stones that glittered against the light coming from the flourescent.

Li Nuxie's eyes shone with amazement. She admired Xu Wei's taste. She glanced at the digital clock at her bedside table. Oh no. She spent so much time admiring the dress. They will be late!

Meanwhile, Xu Wei was pacing back and forth in the living room. Once in a while, he was glancing at the corridor leading to the bedroom. He sighed, castigating himself for behaving like a thirteen year-old boy. His phone inside his pocket vibrated. Pulling it out, he swipe the accept call icon and brought it near his ear.

"Elder bro, what's with your message?" Xu Ming's voice went through.

"Exactly what it said," Xu Wei said.

"But I don't want to go. This was supposed to be your time to shine," his brother insisted.

Xu Wei wrinkled his eyebrows. "What's wrong with going on a date with Li Chanying? It's just for tonight. And don't worry, Li Chanying is not the type to fall for you."

"Damn. How did our convo went that way?" Xu Ming sat up right. His elder brother really knew how to piss him off.

"Three-day vacation," Xu Wei said.

"Five!"

"Take it or leave it. Either way, you're still going to attend the gathering," Xu Wei said with finality.

Xu Ming slumped his shoulders. The First Young Master Xu was really a businessman. He always got the good side of the bargain. "Okay, okay."

Xu Wei smirked as he hung up. Once again, he glanced at the corridor. He shook his head. Why were women spent so much time getting ready for a party? Even his sister and grandmother took two hours just to choose a gown.

Raising his head, His hand massaged the back of his neck, exhaling softly. The soft tap of high heels coming from the corridor made Xu Wei straightened his back. Before his eyes, Li Nuxie slowly emerged from the corridor. The ball gown bounced lightly as she walked steadily.

Li Nuxie looked like a black angel who went down from heaven to take his soul. The straight back and slightly raised chin befitted the status of an empress.

Her slightly tanned skin matched with the black ball gown. The collarbone was made prominent by the straps of the gown made of tiny ruby stones. Xu Wei knew that Li Nuxie's chest area was lacking so he told Ricci to deal with it. Tonight, Li Nuxie's boobs looked bigger than usual. Her waist was accentuated with a belt made of gold chain.

Xu Wei's eyes stopped at Li Nuxie's face. He furrowed his eyebrows. "Why are you still wearing your eyeglasses?"

"Obviously, to see," Li Nuxie said dryly. She was able to cover up the trembling of her hands by being defensive. Her heart continued to hammer against her chest as she stared at him. Xu Wei looked dashing with the mask on that made anyone including her curious what lies behind it. As her gaze went lower, it stopped on Xu Wei's reddish lips, enticing her imagination again.

"Aren't we going yet?" she glanced at the wall clock. "We're going to be late."

"She wanted to ask Xu Wei about Li Chanying but she knew Xu Wei got it covered.

Xu Wei shook his head. "Do you have contacts?"

"Yes. But I don't want to wear it. Hey, where are you going?"

The man went to the direction of her bedroom. Her forehead creased. What would he do there?

Not long after, Xu Wei went back. "Sit there," he told Li Nuxie, pointing at the sofa.

"Why would I?" she crossed her arms.

Xu Wei held her hand gently before guiding her to the sofa. "Not the time to be stubborn. We're running late."

He sat on the sofa, gently pulling down Li Nuxie towards his lap.

Li Nuxie's butt landed softly on Xu Wei's lap. "What-"

Xu Wei removed her eyeglasses and put it on the side table. Li Nuxie blinked. "What are you doing? He didn't answer. Instead, he opened a small circular container. "I already cleaned this. Now, raised your head and look upward. I'll put this," he told her patiently.

"No. Only Ying can put it in my eyes," she turned her head away.

Xu Wei chuckled before putting his hand around her jaw, guiding it to face him again. Li Nuxie met his eyes.

"Your cousin is not here. Don't you trust me?" He brushed his fingers against the skin below her chin. It felt smooth.

Li Nuxie grasped his fingers before putting it away from her neck. "I don't."

"What a straightforward woman," Xu Wei said, lightly tapping her nose. "We're not going to the party unless you wear this."

She narrowed her eyes. Although she did not want to go, she knew Li Chanying would be there. Her cousin will be hurt if she will not go. "Aren't you a businessman?"

"I am, babe. Now, be a good girl and listen to me."

"Okay! Okay!" She raised her head and looked up. She can see from the corner of her eyes the fingers of Xu Wei, the contacts on his forefinger. She groaned. She really didn't like wearing contacts. When Xu Wei's hand was already in front of her face, her hand automatically grasped his wrist.

"I don't think I can do it," Li Nuxie's hand trembled and it didn't escape from Xu Wei's eyes.

Xu Wei withdrew his hand. "Should I call Li Chanying here?"

She shook her head. "No. I'll just take a deep breath." She closed her eyes, counting from one to ten. As she opened them, they were burning with determination.

"Let's do it."

Xu Wei nodded before putting the contacts in her left eye. She closed her eyes as soon as she felt the intruding yet familiar sensation in them.

"The next eye."

Li Nuxie didn't answer. She just raised her face. The process was shorter compared to the first one. She closed her eyes for a few seconds before opening it again.

Her vision was still the same with her eyeglasses. However, her face was prettier to look at now. She glanced at Xu Wei. "Thank you."

"You're welcome, babe."
