MARGARET'S POV
The feeling of anxiety kicks in as soon as I saw the flashy office of Prime Minister Baron Evans from afar.
It was a mistake to misplaced my phone, and Violet picked up his call. I knew right then and there, I'm in big trouble.
That keeps me edgy and restless throughout my trip while holding my reports inside a folder.
My Uber driver picks me up from Cliveden an hour ago.
A spring cottage in Cliveden is always my home when my presence is necessary for the Royal court or when I need to report to Prime Minister Evans.
This is my lifetime privilege when I completed my service as the Chief Gentlewoman of the Privy Chamber three years ago.
I have tendered my resignation when I accepted Mr. Evans's offer, a great opportunity to have freedom from the chaos inside the royal court and much higher compensation.
Then his voice echoes in my head like he is in front of me, my hand's tremor.
"You have a very simple task Margaret, you just need to oversee the situation of Amanda and her daughter. Whatever happens, you have to directly report to me. Are we clear?"
"Yes, Mr. Evans!"
And that was the last time we talked personally because he is heavily guarded, no one can get an appointment with him not unless he requested to.
The car halted in front of a skyscraper building, its 80 percent made of fiberglass, and sparkles from the ray of sunlight.
The shadows of the street trees that were lined up in front of it, helped to cover up the ground floor.
This is the second time that I have entered the glass building but it amazes me every time.
I could hear my two inches scarlet red heels click-clacking on their semi-carpeted floors.
My eyes were welcomed by the private company logo of the Prime Minister as I reached the information.
Two ladies with blonde and red hair, in their white uniforms with the QuesStar logo, welcomed me in unison, "Good morning Ma'am! Welcome to QuesStar! Flashing their friendliest, and the sweetest smile, and I handed them my ID while I greeted them good morning then said, "Prime Minister Evans is expecting me."
The lady in blonde responded while checking my ID and typing in the computer, "Please give me a minute mam, I will check the schedule forwarded by the secretary of Prime Minister Evans."
"Yes, please... Thank you!" I surveyed the whole ground floor, all white and glass decors that may cost a fortune, everything loudly speaks of luxury and minimalist style.
The white leather seats on different areas shimmer like being gloss.
"Excuse me, mam... Prime Minister Evans is waiting for you at his office on the 28th floor. A guard is on the way now at the lobby, he will accompany you in going up."
"Alright then, thank you!" I brushed the hem of the black suit with my hands, to make it look crisp and neat.
And it's some kind of an unconscious habit that keeps me calm and collected every time.
Then, two well-built men in their black suits arrived in the lobby and walked towards my position.
"Good morning, Miss Margaret Woodwarde?" A guy in his slight beard face greeted me while the other check me with a scanning detector.
That's how strict the security of Prime Minister Evans is, no appointment, no meet up.
And everyone has undergone a tough checking.
"Alright! You are good to go Miss Woodwarde. His Excellency is waiting for you. This way please!" They escorted me from the lobby towards the executive elevator, made up of white marble and glass with intricate details on the mirror, its flooring shows the logo of "QuesStar" a white horse with red ribbon on its neck and letter markings encircling it in white and red.
QuesStar is a famous real estate company in the UK. It earns through buying thousands of acres of land then put up a community of houses and business establishments then have them sold like hot pancakes.
Then the majority of their investments goes to farmlands for crops and vegetation production, housing, and building skyscrapers for rentals.
This is Mr. Evans's business before he was the Prime Minister.
His younger brother took over the management of QuesStar when is already in the position.
But he remained the CEO, who is at the back of every decision that was made, he has the last word to everything.
"Miss Woodwarde, we're here!" The guard's voice almost makes me jump off in surprise.
I unconsciously step out while taking out myself from the reverie. I'm just like a good kid following her nanny without asking questions. I obeyed and followed them out.
Then, we halted in front of a glass office with signage, "CEO/Prime Minister".
The guard with a beard opened the doors for me while the other cleaned face guy left outside.
The interior of the office changes a lot since the last time I was here a few years ago.
The guard pointed me to an empty white leather chair, the same as the seats in the lobby, in front of the glass table and the shelves on the walls, filled with different kinds of books.
I could hear the guard's shoes squeaking on the floor, then doors open and closed, he left me alone.
The smell of sandalwood and vanilla in his space lingers in my nostrils, that's most probably his favorite men's perfume since I haven't smelled such scent when the two guards were around.
Then, a sound of a door opening and closing caught my attention.
I turned around and it's coming from a room on the last end of the alley with rows and rows of cubicles in glass and woods in white paints.
And their flooring is covered with red carpet.
"I'm so sorry to keep you waiting!" I jump off from my seat and found out that Prime Minister Evans is already returned to his seat without me knowing.
"Good morning, Your Excellency!" I managed to bow down since I'm already standing in front of the table.
"Haven't you seen your doctor, Margaret? You look like you need a check-up! You seemed restless and troubled."
"I'm fine, Your Excellency. You do not need to bother about me." [But I know deep inside me, I'm not feeling well.]
"Margaret, please seat down." He signaled his eyes pointing to the chair.
"Oh! Yes, thank you, Your Excellency" Then I obeyed as he ordered.
"I have talked with Violet the other day. Is there something that you wanted to report about?"
I handed him the report folder about Amanda and Violet.
Then suddenly, the folder flew in front of my face.
"You seemed to forget your task for the past two years, Margaret! Your job is very simple, you just need to report the happenings of Amanda and her daughter. Amanda died without me knowing that she battled cancer? I could have helped her financially and she should have been alive!" My ears are ringing from his deafening voice, he is like growling in fury.
"Your, Excellency... In the two years that I have been there for them. Amanda found out about my connections to you. She does not want anything coming from you. She rather dies than ask help." My tears started brimming in my eyes, took my facial tissue in my small purse and wiped them dry.
"But, Your Excellency... Lady Violet Rose is struggling right now and alone. She needs your help, Your Excellency." I tried to keep calm and avoiding my voice being pitchy and demanding.
"You are supposed to be there for her! Why do you have to left her alone?" His eyes glared at me and I shivered.
"I have been trying to get in touch with you during the last days of Amanda, Your Excellency. But, I couldn't go through. That's the reason why my phone got misplaced inside their home. I'm worried sick thinking about them. Violet worked so hard to provide food, medicine, and paying the bills but it's not enough. And the last money that you have sent me, I helped pay the hospital bill of Amanda."
"Amanda is gone now. But her daughter is still alive. I want you to get back to her today and bring her back to England. You stay with her in Cliveden temporarily while I set up her new home." Then he dialed on his phone, "Hello, Rosie! Yes, call the plane captain, tell him to bring the jet plane for a trip to Alaska. Yes, Margaret will be his passenger. No, I'm not coming but they will pick up someone there. Yes. Thank you!"
"Margaret, you make sure to bring her back with you! She should have someone to take good care of her. She's too young to work hard instead of getting to school and complete her University." He pushed the button on his table and said "Erin, please bring me some coffee! Do you like to have coffee? You still have 30 minutes before the plane arrives."
I shook my head and say thank you.
Then, a girl with long black shiny hair, in her white uniform, came in with a cup of coffee, "Excuse me, Your Excellency. Here's your coffee!" She smiled her sweetest and friendliest smile then left.
He is sipping his coffee like he's not with me then he muttered, "How did Amanda turned down all the financial support that I have given here? With all the struggles that she had as a single parent?"

BARON EVANS
"No... please don't! No!!!" She keeps on fighting my strength while I strangled her inside my body.
"Sssh... You do not need to fight me, sweetie! I could give you everything you need. You just have to do as I please." I'm trying my best to speak quietly avoiding people to know especially the Royal court.
[I was then a member of the Privy Council.]
"No... please, Sir! The Queen will outcast me in Castle Quest if they found out about this. Please let me go, Sir!"
But, her pleas cannot stop me from all the plans that I have.
She is the lady's servant of Princess Charlotte Grace Camille, the wife of Grand Duke Ulric Margrave of Durkne, the firstborn of Queen Anastacia, and deceased King Constantine IX.
"Sir..." I covered her mouth with my hand and forcefully taking all of her clothing in urgency.
"You have to behave and obey my order or else, you and the rest of your family will experience the wrath, that makes you forget that you are still living," I whispered in her ears and she stopped fighting.
I could feel her body tremor as I savored every inch of her.
And I accomplished the first action plan of my goal, this will help me on my next step.
In a month, I have found out that Amanda was successfully pregnant with my child. I have covered up everything to let her stay in Castle Quest.
I have given her enough financial support just to let her keep the child.
"Once the baby will be born, you can leave the child under my care and you can have your freedom." I'm explaining to her about my plan and she's not responding, only her tears expressed her torture.
"You will understand soon... your sacrifice will not leave in vain. I will shower you with an abundance of wealth. The wealth that you cannot imagine that you will have your entire life." It's another night of secretly meeting her outside the castle.
Then the ringing on the telephone caught my attention "Hello, Rosie? Okay, that's good! Thank you. Yes, she will!"
"Margaret, the QuesStar jet plane is already on the helipad, it's on the rooftop of the building. The guards will escort you up there. You have to make sure that Violet will be back in Cliveden before dinner. I will book the restaurant for the two of you. Don't fail me this time, Margaret!"
Margaret left with the guards while I gulp down my almost cold cup of coffee.
"Lady Violet Rose..."
[How does she look like? I hope she has some of my genes.]
I know, it was a mistake that I have used Amanda for getting the higher position as promised by Queen Anastacia. The plan failed when we found out that the child of Amanda is a girl.
Queen Anastacia is a very manipulative mother of Grand Duke Ulric Margrave, she had prayed hard to have a boy as the first heir to the throne but, they found out on the ultrasound of Princess Charlotte Grace Camille that she is carrying a girl.
And so, as his one of the Privy Council, I was given a job that is very difficult to do, to get a child with good genes and a mother of great character.
That's when I saw Amanda at one of the parties in the Castle.
I have heard great stories about her from the Princess herself.
Amanda is no ordinary lady's servant, she's a strong independent woman from a good reputable family.
She could workaround with less supervision and could manage to do secretary works for the Princess if others are not around.
And most importantly, she has the trust of the Princess.
That's what we needed the most.
She has to be there with the Princess at all times for us to complete the task.
But, the accident makes the plan a great failure.
The flash report on the vehicular accident of Princess Charlotte and Amanda makes the story different.
It was like a bomb that explodes throughout Europe.
