Catching Tails

Faust laid lifeless in a puddle of his own blood. It should've been Louis's first instinct to go rush and help confront Lucius at the vault, but he needed to take a moment for something.

'It's been awhile since I did a toss of luck.'

Judging by the way things were turning out, anything was possible to go wrong, he needed all the luck he could get, so he pulled out his lucky coin.

'Do me a favor and land on heads.'

Toss.

One flick, the coin was thrown into the air. Louis's gaze watched it until it finally came back down.

Catch!

Grabbing it, Louis turned it over on his wrist. The result was not heads.

'Tails?!! Damnit! I don't even want to imagine how things will play out now. I thought I would grab a little luck before helping Indigo and Diane. But I accidently grabbed bad luck.'

Louis let a sad sigh escape his mouth, before he put his coin back into his pocket. Accepting it, he walked his way, down the now destroyed hallway. He could only wish that things would go smoothly when he arrives at the vault. Hopefully Indigo and Diane would have defeated that mercenary Lucius by then.

Louis felt like he was forgetting something, but he couldn't quite remember what that was.

___________

(Meanwhile: Indigo and Diane)

They turned the last corner and arrived in front of the vault door, where Lucius seemed to be trying to undo the barrier on it. But he wasn't getting through any time soon, it was the strongest barrier magic up to date, created from the Vangray family.

"Stop and put your hands in the air." Indigo commanded the mercenary. She was aiming a rifle straight at his head. Her finger was on the trigger, ready to blast at any sudden movement.

Diane approached Lucius as well and started to place restraining magic on his wrists.

"That's not very ladylike of you two." he said.

Indigo roughly pressed the rifle's barrel against his head.

"Not another word from you."

"..Now wait a minute. Speech is only a part of my rights."

"Remaining silent is one as well. Now, shut it. Unless you'd rather taste my rifle's lead."

"That's not very nice. Let me show you something." Lucius's eyes lit up and he was obviously about to try something.

Indigo pulled the trigger, firing a bullet at him.

Bang! Crush.

The bullet's metallic form only flatened when hitting Lucius's skin. And it goes without saying, he was not injured. His hands easily broke free from the magic restraints and he smacked Indigo across the room.

"Idiotic women. You have no skill."

Diane pulled out double knives and swung them with talent.

Slash! One blade gently passed by Lucius's throat and missed.

Slash! The other blade came straight at his eye, but he couldn't move fast enough to dodge.

Shank!

"SHIIIITTTTT!!!!"

He stumbled back in agony while the knife remained in his eye. A part of him couldn't believe his eye was actually pierced, but the pain was utterly real.

"What was that about us not having skill?" Diane slashed at him, but Lucius grabbed a hold of her wrist and flung her against a wall.

Slam!

"Don't get so full of yourse-"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

3 shots fired into his back. Indigo wasn't out of the fight yet, she had many more bullets to go.

With haste, she fired many more shots, which Lucius rolled out of the way from.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

"You stupid women asked for it!"

Diane and Indigo stood side by side, trying to stay ready for whatever their opponent tried to pull.

Lucuis gave them a firm glare as the room began shaking. Both Indigo and Diane felt their weight increasing until they weren't able to stand anymore. It was as if gravity itself was against them.

As they fell against the floor, it felt like an orc had body-slammed them. They tried to lift themselves back to their feet, but they gave up within seconds. They were stuck on the floor, feeling like their entire body was glued to it, all while having the world on top of them.

They were immobilized, and now Lucius could finally remove the blade that was stabbed into his eye. He yanked it out and screamed while his eye fell from his socket. A bloody stream fell down his cheek.

"Aghh...DAMN!!!!"

He touched his socket as a green light stopped the bleeding. However, his eye could not be replaced.

He grabbed the knife that was once pierced into his eye. Without a second though, he slammed it's point down into Diane's hand.

Slam! Shank!

A feminine yell of pain came out, which intrigued Lucius's demented brain.

"Oh, you're a screamer. Let's do that again."

He violently yanked the blade out, and stabbed it back into her hand once more. Shank!

A blood curdling scream came out from her mouth. And tears even began to run down her cheek.

Indigo wanted to just get up and kill the man that was causing Diane so much pain, but the gravity was too much to go against. So, she did what she could and demanded a stop.

"Stop! You're a fucking corupted bastard!"

An eerie expression came onto Lucius' face and he tilted his head. His glare was now set on her instead.

"What is this? Are you feeling left out? Haha, don't worry, I have something for you too. Remember when you shot me earlier? I bet you don't know what that feels like. You'll learn today."

Lucius bent down, grabbing the riffle off the floor. After making sure there were bullets in it, a wicked smile formed on his face.

"I'm going to love this."

Tmp...Tmp..Tmp..

Loud footsteps came around the corner and Louis' voice shouted.

"I'm here! Sorry I took so long- AGH!"

Thump!

Upon entering the area, his body succumbed to the intense gravity and fell.

He tried to get up, but just like the other had tried, he too gave up from the heaviness.

"..What...is this?" Louis asked.

Lucius chuckled and replied. "It's the finest gravity manipulation spell I know. I'm glad you showed up I was just getting ready to blow some holes into your friend here. '

He shoved the barrel of the rifle against Indigo's back.

Louis's eyes widened and with no hesitation, he made an offer.

"Wait! Spare her. I'll take her place instead."

Lucuis's eerie grin grew even more demented.

"How kind of you. But nope! I have a score to settle with her for shooting me in the back."

His finger wrapped around the trigger and pulled it back.

Bang!

One round fired into Indigo's shoulder, fracturing it on impact.

She cried in intense pain. She wanted to cover the wound quickly, but the gravity wouldn't allow her to move.

Diane shouted in rage at this man, but her attempt was meaningless in his ears.

"How about another one?!" Lucius asked, but it 'No' wasn't an option in his ears.

He moved the barrel and pressed it against one of Indigo's hips.

Louis desperately tried to get up in order to help her, but getting up was impossible under such gravity.

Lucius pulled the trigger firing a round into her pelvis, utterly cracking it.

Indigo's crying screech was leagues louder than the other one. The desperation was visible in her tears, she wanted the pain to stop.

But stopping wasn't on Lucius's 'To Do' list.

He put his ear close to Indigo's mouth, and completely made up her words.

"What was that? You want another one? Hmm. If you insist!"

Lucius fired a round into her back.

Bang!

A weak squeal of pain rushed out of her vocal cords. Her expression was going numb as she was getting ready to pass out from the pain.

Lucius moved the barrel to the final spot he planned for. HE pressed it against her head.

"Now, I highly doubt you'll scream after this one."

Louis' mind was racing, panicking and desperately hoping for a miracle.

'No...No...No...No NO NO NO NO NO No NO NO NO NO NO

I need to stop this. I have to stop this? I need to get up! How can I get up under this gravity?! No no no no no no no I can't let her die. I can;t let someone close to me be murdered! Not again!'

One final idea came to mind. Normal enhancing spells wouldn't be enough to overcome this gravity, but there was an option. A Sanity spell. It would tear a part of Louis's humanity away from him, but if it was to save Indigo, he didn't care.

He murmured the chanting "Sanity, grant me the strength I seek. And at the end of the day, a part of me will be the price I pay."

Lucius broke into hysterical laughter as his finger wrapped around the trigger. Indigo's death was nearly set in stone at this rate.

Fwsh! Snatch!

A figure flashed in front of Lucius's eyes, snatching the riffle away and snapping in apart. Lucius became frozen in both shock and fear as he stared into Louis's rage-filled eyes.

"H-how are you able to move? Come on, answer me!"

Louis stayed silent and let his actions speak. He grabbed Lucius's arm and instantly tore it from his body.

Rip. Gush!

He fell down watching the blood spill from where his arm used to be. His body was in too much shock for him to feel the pain. Instead, he watched in a cold sweat.

W

"W...what..WHAT The Fu-"

Grip, Rip.

His other arm was yanked off and tossed into the air. He wanted to just crawl away in horror, but he didn't have the upper limbs for doing so anymore.

Louis shoved Lucius back and crawled on top, giving a glare, a glare belonging to a rage-filled man. His hand stabbed into Lucius's abdomen, then with one firm pull, he ripped out a couple ribs.

Rip!

Over to the side, Indigo had already lost consciousness, but Diane was watching Louis act like a murderous animal. Was this man really Louis?

Louis proceeded to rip Lucius' other ribs out, until his entire chest had been ripped open. Still, Louis's anger was not satisfied. His fist swung down, smashing the mercenaries head apart.

Slam! Smash!

Bloody brain matter splatter across the floor and wall.

Diane became terrified. Sure, Lucius deserved death, that much is assured. But she never once saw Louis cause such a bloody scene like this.

Louis rose to his feet and looked at the night sky. His eyes were dim and his thoughts and memories were all scattered and foggy.

He mumbled, "I won't lose anyone like that ever again."

Slash!

Unexpectedly, a blade cut across his back and he collapsed right away.

Thump!

Diane's eyes watched a new opponent arrive. It was that red-haired girl 'Ella' Leo was supposed to be fighting against her. If she was here now, it only meant one thing. Leo was defeated.

Ella looked down at Louis' limb and cold body with sadness.

"That other guy was boring. I thought you would be a little funner. Looks like you're dead to."

She set her sights on the unconscious Indigo, then Diane, who was rising up to fight.

"I won't let you come near her."

Ella shrugged and giggle "She's out cold. That would be no fun anyways. I'll just settle for you THEN!"
