The nine spell-binders were all placed in a cell. They were still bound by the rings. The cell was large, and there was no light source inside. So there was a portion of the cell that was dark. The spell-binders stood on the bright side of the cell, which was from the cell's door to a small fraction of the cell. Douglas sensed a familiar presence in the dark portion of the cell. It was his wild-tiger that he abandoned earlier.
He called his demon pet’s name, "Big Prong?"
The demon pet responded with a low, pained growl. Douglas used his partner-bond communication to check out the state of his demon pet. He sensed that his wild-tiger was severely injured and could barely keep living.
He apologised to the Big Prong, saying, "I'm so sorry for leaving you, boy."
Big Prong expressed his acceptance of the apology with another low growl.
