the anger ran through her and all she felt was the pain that comes with not eating and then hiking for the farthest distance she could remember ever having the misfortune to climb. Hiking had always been a joy, but it becomes a burden when you are chased up a very rocky path and all you see is the very bleak sight of trees and your hearing only picks up the very noisy silence associated with the forest of the northside.
'Now', Sarah thought, 'if only I could hear the sound of an engine and not the endless cries of birds'... but 'how did I get here' was another question that was burning in her mind; 'is this another dream?'
she hit her legs and the pain was enough to banish that thought from her imagination that had been running wild lately
she started the day like any other, getting out of bed was as hateful as ever and the cold made it all the worse. she got up and went up into her positions for she needed her daily workout as lubricant for her tired bones.
'when did I get so tense?' she asked no one in particular
her day was usually the same, and when something out of the ordinary happened, it usually fell on her Sundays; the only day she had to herself for as long as she could remember... being since she took the job as the Secretary to the Mayor.
Nothing felt okay today though, and she always had her instincts to trust. She had prepared for a not-so-good day; but she never thought her premonitions would be played out so early in the day...
barely had she left her two-rooms apartment, that she felt she was being followed as she ran. it was still dark and the streets were not so occupied; only few stragglers, a few early joggers like herself, and some beggars laid out in front of stalls... hoping for a better day than yesterday; but not too much so as not to offend their fortune lest what little they had would be taking from them.
She looked back and saw about three people jogging behind her, and none seemed to have the slightest interest in her personage. Yet she felt watched... it was a nagging feeling, like how you felt when someone stared at you on the bus or at the train station.
And so, Sarah increased her steps as she turned into the alleyways. She knew Dostin well enough to be able to throw anyone. So she smiled and ran even faster.
