Everyone was seated surrounding the island. Mother Park squinted her eyes as she looked at William incredulously. Not only her, everyone had the same expression, it was just their expression was not as obvious as Mother Park. "Uhm. Elena and I will stay here for three more days." William knew his mom was about to barrage him with some shameless words like how he had not eaten her up yet when he saw her mouth opened. So he decisively blurted out anything that flashed in his mind the fastest.
Mother Park knew William had prevented her from speaking out her thought. But still, hearing her daughter-in-law would stay over for additional days pleased her so much. She clasped her hands excitedly as she asked, "Really?"
William nodded. His mouth twitched slightly as he endured a tingling of pain in his waist. "Yes." Elena who was sitting beside William pinched his waist with some of her strength. They had not talked about this but why did he suddenly said this?
William leaned closer as he whispered in a voice that only two of them could hear. "Please just say yes to everything I say. Okay baby? I'll explain it to you later." Then William returned to his initial posture. Elena glared at him in contempt but she switched her expression faster before everyone could notice. Of course, William saw his cute wife was like an angry little tiger. If there was no one he would tease her and kissed her immediately.
…
After breakfast, Elena and William returned to their bedroom. Elena glared at her husband. "Why did you say that we'll be here for three more days?"
Instead of answering, William asked her with a hint of grievance. "Why? You don't want to stay here?"
Elena was speechless. She felt as if she was a tyrant wife who bullied her nitpicked husband. Elena asked about this not because she didn't want to stay here but it was mainly caused by the sudden change of the environment that made her felt restless.
Moreover, everyone was good to her but truthfully, aside from Little Mo whom she had been with for years, she could not readily accept their kindness.
Elena sighed as she realized the expression she gave him and the question she had just asked was possible to make him misunderstood. "No, it's not because of that." She knew William was faking his expression but she still felt suffocated by his sadness. "It's just too abrupt darling. Everyone is good to me and I'm really glad that they accept me readily. But do you know? No one has ever gave me a sense of a family, the warmth of a family aside Little Mo for all these years. Honestly speaking, I feel relieved that they accept me but at the same time, I'm not ready enough to receive this treatment and it makes me a bit uncomfortable. So I need some time to calm my mind."
William knew what his wife was thinking about so he hugged her and gently said, "That's fine baby. You'll get use to it."
Elena nuzzled in his embrace. She was afraid that she would not get used to it but she was even more afraid by the fact that this warmth would faded soon. The most terrifying thing was not when you was unable to get what your desired. Instead it was when you suddenly lost after you tasted it.
Then, Elena heard William said, "Whatever decision you made or things you want to do, I'll support you. Just go ahead and speak your mind. Do not refrain yourself from speaking truthfully because by speaking a truth we can find the solution together right? I'll do the same. I'll speak what I have in my mind."
Elena looked up. Her husband was so good to her. She felt she had saved the world in her past life. "It's seems that I've won a lottery."
"Lottery?" William asked in puzzlement.
'En." Elena nodded. "How can I get a perfect husband like you? Handsome, tall, smart, rich and most importantly, you love me."
William blushed in embarrassment after he heard her words. His cheeks and tip of ears were flushed red. There was nothing happier to him than hearing a compliment from his wife. He cleared his throat to tamper his inflated ego that grew bigger after her compliment as he said, "Well, I know that you are lucky to get a jackpot. Fortunately you decided to marry me yesterday or else I'll become someone else husband."
William shameless words were expected by Elena. "That's right. Because I own you now so, you are mine until I do not want you anymore." She declared his ownership like an overbearing CEO in some novels she read.
William smirked his wife was so overbearing that he wholeheartedly willing to submit to her. "So, do you want to stay here longer?"
Elena realized that her conversation with him eased her mood. She hesitated for a bit before she decided firmly. "Yes, we'll stay here for three more days."
"Ok." William smiled. He kissed her forehead. He wanted to say something when Elena's phone on the bed rang. Elena released herself from his embrace and picked the phone up. "Good morning Chief." Elena set Batch: Toccata and Fugue in D Minor for every call and message from Chief Blair, the head of UDI Lab.
"Good morning Elena. Can you prepare yourself to Province D? You need to go now because there's a case that needs our assistance. You'll go with Thomas." Then, Chief Blair spit out some details about the case before hung the phone up.
Elena looked at her husband. She felt bad that she had to leave him one day after their marriage for work. "Darling, I need to go to Province D with Thomas. Is it okay?"
William stood near her so he did definitely hear the conversation between her and Chief Blair. From what he inferred from Chief Blair anxious tone, the matter seemed urgent. Well, he had made a plan to spend the day with her but he also knew that this matter must be attended. He nodded. "That's okay. I'll send you and Thomas to the airport okay?"
Elena felt bad although William had assured her that was okay. There was sheen of moisture in the corner of her eyes. Her man was so understanding that it made her felt blessed for being his wife and at the same time she was at loss when she thought the effort she made was not enough. She believed that everything was mutual in relationship, there was give and take. She could not let herself to be the receiving end. She hugged him as she inwardly promised, 'You're so good to me. Rest assured, I'll be good to you too darling.'
