12. Confiscated

Kirana could feel Zayn's breath on her face. Instantly the hairs on her neck stood up. She immediately turned her head away, not daring to look at Zayn, who was staring at her.

"I-I asked that just out of curiosity. Not to tease you," said Kirana.

"Really? But your question makes me think differently, Kirana."

Kirana pushed Zayn's body away from her. She asked like that, wanting to know what other men thought about her. Was she not attractive enough that Adrian had betrayed her in favor of another woman? Kirana didn't expect the question to make her look ridiculous and got another response from Zayn.

Zayn pursed his lips, then backed away and opened the door again for Kirana. "You don't have to worry! I wouldn't do that to a woman who still has another man in her heart."

Kira looked at Zayn. What the man said was true. There was still Adrian, who filled her heart even though what was left felt even more heartbreaking.

"I'll take you home. It's midnight," said Zayn.

"O-okay." Kirana quickly controlled herself from the awkward situation, and she then stepped out.

When in the car, Zayn and Kirana were silent to each other. Kirana was still thinking about her stupid question earlier, while Zayn was calm and focused on driving his car.

"Um ... about my question, that is not serious." Kirana was the first to break the silence between them.

"You're still thinking about your question? You don't have to worry! I'll pretend you never asked but don't ever ask another guy. I know you want to hear what I think about you, don't you?" Zayn asked, looking at Kirana.

Kirana smiled in relief because Zayn understood the meaning of her question. She was embarrassed because she had poorly thought of Zayn.

"Adrian was the first for me. Since I was a teenager until now, the only thing in my heart and mind is him. I just looked at him as if there was only one man in this world, so I only heard what he said, including his opinion. It turns out I've been so naive," Kirana said, her eyes dimming.

Zayn listened to Kirana without commenting, only occasionally looking at the woman beside him.

"When he said I was beautiful, I was sweet, I was kind, and he loved me very much, I always believed it, and my feelings skyrocketed to hear his compliments on me. Now I know he doesn't look at me like that. If that's true, why would he betray me?"

Without realizing it, Kirana's tears rolled down her face. Zayn is still silent and has not commented. Kirana quickly rubbed her cheek, even though she had promised not to cry again because of Adrian.

"Ah, I'm sorry! Because you have to listen to this."

"It's okay. Just get it all out. I'll listen to you," said Zayn.

"I've been feeling susceptible lately, maybe because I just lost my dad and ... and maybe because I'm pregnant." Kirana's words weakened.

"It's possible. I heard that pregnant women are more sensitive, but if you want to cry, the cry is something normal. But after that, you have to get up again for you and your child."

"Did the doctor say that I was pregnant? You didn't seem surprised," Kirana asked.

Zayn couldn't say that these past few weeks, he's been investigating and stalking Kirana to get his plan done with Sarita, his Mother.

"Yes, the doctor said it! Did the man know?" Zayn pretended to ask, and Kirana just nodded.

They finally arrived in front of Kirana's house, but it was dark with no lights. Kirana and Zayn looked surprised.

"Why is your house dark?" Zayn asked.

"Maybe my mother isn't home."

Kirana only realized that her mother had not called that day, even when Kirana had not returned home until midnight. Quite strange, usually her mother is always worried if Kirana doesn't come home at nine o'clock.

Kirana slowly opened the door to her house. Zayn decides to accompany Kirana into her home, wanting to know what happened. Kirana pressed the doorbell many times, but her mother did not appear. She decided to call, but there was no answer. Kirana began to feel anxious.

Zayn took the initiative to look to the side of the house, peeking one by one at the house's windows. Finally, he found something in one of the windows. Ratih was sitting on her bed with her eyes closed.

Zayn banged on Ratih's bedroom window. "Madam, please open the door!"

Kirana approached Zayn and saw her mother, who was sitting. They banged on the window pane, but still, there was no reaction from Ratih.

"There's no other way, and we must break this window. It seems like your mother fainted," said Zayn.

"Faint?" Kirana panicked.

Zayn tells Kirana to stay away. He took off his shirt to protect his hand, which would be used to break the window pane. Zayn broke the window until it was enough for him to get inside. He then enters, whereas Kirana is waiting outside worriedly.

Zayn checked Ratih and made sure she was still breathing.

"We have to take her to the hospital!"

Zayn lifted Ratih's body and carried her out of the bedroom. Kirana waited at the door of her house until Zayn appeared with her mother.

"Mom, what happens to you?" Kirana looked sadly at her mother when she was in the car.

They arrived at the hospital, and a doctor immediately treated Ratih. Kirana waited anxiously. Not long after, the doctor who examined Ratih appeared. The doctor was talking if Ratih had overdosed because of the sedative.

Kirana knows that lately, her mother has been daydreaming alone, but she doesn't know that her mother uses sedatives. However, she should be grateful that her mother can still be saved. If not, maybe the next day, Kirana will be back and have to lose her parents.

"You go home! I will take care of my mother, thank you for helping me," Kirana said to Zayn beside her.

Kirana knew the man must be exhausted because, since yesterday, he had to take care of the problems that Julia had caused.

"It's okay. I'll be home tomorrow morning. Now I'm so sleepy it's impossible to drive."

"But it's uncomfortable here."

"I can sleep anywhere when I'm sleepy," said Zayn.

"Okay, you can sleep on that couch, and I'm here with mom," Kirana said at last.

The following day, Kirana's house was visited by several people in neat uniforms. They entered the place uninhabited, and not long after, the people came out and put a board with writing in front of the home door.

'THIS LAND AND BUILDING HAS BEEN CONFISCATED'
